It was a cold, wet, snowy day in November when we walked and browsed the galleries and shops on Canyon Road. We started out with breakfast at the Tea House and then made our way down the road. There are so many art galleries and jewelry shops!! My husband likes to shop much more than I do and I wasn't really looking forward to doing this....since the items for sale are quite expensive, I assumed it would be like Aspen or Vail, or other places we've been where the shopkeepers are, in my opinion, snooty. I did not find this experience at all!!! We went into many galleries and shops and had very pleasant interactions with the shopkeepers. We learned about various artists and sculptors and very much enjoyed this experience! We had hoped to have lunch at one of the restaurants on Canyon Road, but most didn't open until dinner time. However, that did not effect our enjoyment of this experience. I'd recommend this walk down Canyon Road, whether you are shopping or not!

We first saw this street on a trolley tour of Santa Fe and knew we had to come back. We took advantage of the cooler air and arrived just as the galleries were opening. It is a wonderful stroll through various indoor and outdoor exhibits. We bought a yard sculpture and a few small pieces. The landscaping adds to the beauty of this artiists colony. Along the way are also several little restaurants to enjoy. We had lunch outdoors on a shaded patio. There was even live music. It was a romantic conclusion to a great morning. A must see if you are in Santa Fe.

Park up near the top, the parking lot is a pretty good deal if you can't find street parking. Then spend the afternoon walking to all the shops, being sure to stop off for some wine and Tapas or a beer at one of the restaurants or bars. So much great art, as well as good food up Canon road. If you are there around Christmas, you HAVE to go up after dark!

Nice walking street with unique art galleries and Santa Fe Pueblo Architecture.
One gallery that you must stop in, Smilow Mathiesen featuring a Lifestyle Collection.
Also great restaurants, Geronimo & The Compound. In December the road is Lit with Fariltos.

I have been visiting Santa Fe for a number of years and always love to visit Canyon Road. If you have any feeling for art this area is not to be missed. I can't do it justice in a few sentences, just don't miss visiting here if you are in Santa Fe.

Many, many art galleries and jewellers and some restaurants and cafés. Nothing sounded like they serve locals. Amusement park vibe, all made for the tourists

If you have a lot of money to spend, you can find some pretty, hand made jewelry

In the southeast corner of Santa Fe on a narrow one way street called Canyon Road, there is an amazing collection of 70+ art galleries displaying high end paintings, photography, sculptures and pottery. The history of the street harks back to the 1920's when transplanted artists settled on what was a muddy dirt road and established their creative colony. Late in the 20 th century, the art market started to grow and this half mile street became the center of Santa Fe's art scene. We spent a couple of hours strolling along Canyon Road exploring a number of galleries and sculpture gardens.
While there is very limited parking along the narrow curving street, there is a city parking lot at the upper end of Canyon Road.
