“A true Southwest Experience.”
Reviewed January 9, 2014

My wife and I just spent 6 night over the Christmas Holidays at the Santa Fe Motel, I was amazed by the services my wife and I received, the location was great, the room was graciously decorated, a truly southwest decor and design.

We sat in the courtyard for breakfast, was so delightful to sit by a Kiva fireplace, was very cozy. The staff was amazing, the lady doing breakfast was real funny. Every morning we enjoyed talking with Ramiro about town, you can tell he enjoys his job, every morning he was welcoming you with a great smile, giving you suggestions on what to do, where to go, making dinner reservations for us, he sent us to the farmers market which is just one block away, was a great experience to visit the farmers market.

Bernadette was so helpful, friendly and amazing. If we had a request no matter what it was they got it done immediately. If you want to feel like home go visit them, you wont be disappointed.

They really have fun and enjoy doing what they do.

We stayed in a "casita" with two queens (no fireplace as we were told it would have). The "casita" was so small and disappointing. A Holiday Inn Express is much bigger and nicer than this room. In addition, the hot water ran out during a shower. I indicated the concern upon checking out and I was told the manager would contact me (never happened). Save your money and stay elseware - The Old Sante Fe Inn is a great place.

My husband and I visit Santa Fe every summer and the Santa Fe Motel and Inn is our home away from home. The people who work in the office are wonderful, especially Maggie and Bernadette, who have always assisted us with a smile, a warm welcome and lots of knowledge about the town. The motel and inn offers a great breakfast with many choices and a wonderful staff working here as well. The casitas are comfortable and a nice respite to return to after a wonderful day in town or the surrounding area. The location is perfect for a walk either to the railyard area of town or the plaza. Great homemade cookies and lemonade in the afternoon; and always someone at the front desk to greet you and help out in any way they can. The motel and inn strives to make their guests comfortable and they succeed. A great value for what you get and the location of the motel.

For an old motor lodge they made it pretty nice. Picture an old drive in motor lodge that has been Santa Fe'ed out. It is not real quiet there. Not because of rowdy people but because of the thin walls. I heard the neighbors snoring. People walk in front of your room and you can hear everyone that goes up and down the stairs.

Every staff member seemed really happy to work there. Many places have staff that appear to be angry or sad that they have to work during the holidays. Not this place. Everyone was so pleasant.

We walked to the plaza although it was very cold out. It is not a long walk. The train station is very close. You can walk there and catch a free shuttle to canyon road or the plaza.

The breakfast was the best (for a free breakfast) You can make your own huevos rancheros with awesome green chilie sauce. We sat outside in a tented area around the kiva fireplace and that was so quaint.

Whole Foods and Trader Joes are a quick drive away. Oh, and don't worry if you forgot your corkscrew the motel will lend you one. No fridge in the room and take a pick axe to the ice machine.

Overall I liked it there and would stay again.

Booked for 7 nights in a standard room, upon arrival upgraded to a casitas for no extra charge.
Good Value with very helpful staff, excellent free breakfast with a very nice touch in that a common dining table inside or separate tables outside under cover with an open log fire.
Easy walk to the Plaza and very close to the Farmers market, parking can be tight but always found a space

This hotel offers very cozy and well-maintained accommodations at a very good price. Plus, their free breakfasts are excellent. The hotel staff members are generally pleasant and friendly. I would have given this place a 5 star rating, but chose not to, because the rooms are not that well heated and the staff was initially reluctant to change our room to one that was warmer. Apparently, it's their policy that you can't readily change your room if you stay more than 2 hours in it. But it took us that long to figure out that the heater wasn't working well in our room, through no fault of our own. You may want to take note of this if you plan to stay at this property during the winter. Moreover, you may also want to stay on the second floor, because as an older property, you can hear the ceilings creaking from footsteps upstairs if you're on the bottom floor. My other observation is that this property is not really located in the heart of Santa Fe town, which I initially thought it would be.

This motel/inn is more like staying at a small inn or bed and breakfast vs. a motel. The staff is amazing and there are so many personal touches that made us feel special. The location is an easy 10-15 min. walk to the plaza and very close to Guadalupe, which has so many great restaurants. My sister and I were there in early November and had Room 8, second floor in rear, away from the street. It was very quiet and we had a kitchenette, which was delightful for making coffee, opening some wine and having some snacks. Our first night there we were tired, so we ordered a pizza to go at Cafe, Cafe next door. It was relaxing to have a bottle of wine
and pizza in the covered patio with the fireplace and one of the staff made a fire for us to enjoy.
The hot breakfast is unlike anything I've seen in other places I've stayed and very healthy as well. Also, all of the staff seemed very knowledgable about the area and were helpful in recommending restaurants. We ate at Andiamo's, The Cowgirl Hall of Fame, Zia's Diner
and del Charro for great drinks and appetizers in the outdoor heated patio with fireplace.
Breakfast was delicious and we always ate inside in the main room, a great way to meet the other guests and find out about some interesting things to do.

We would definitely stay there again. The only challenge was the room was just a little tight
with the 2 queen beds and kitchenette. We would try for one of the bigger rooms, #1 or #14,
with the sitting area next time. The hospitality and everything else made up for it though. Highly recommend it as a great value for Santa Fe near the Downtown area.

Room Tip: Rooms near the front (street side) of motel are a little bigger and have a sitting room. One has a q...
