We had a wonderful mid-October six-night stay at the Inn. We thouroughly loved our room, #257, which was a Deluxe King with a kiva fireplace & balcony. The staff was very friendly and courteous, the breakfast and happy hour were wonderful, and the Inn itself is so comfy and cozy...we felt right at home! We loved everything about The Inn on Alameda, and we will recommend it to all of our friends and family for their next visit to Santa Fe.

Room Tip: Rm #257, King with Balcony & Kiva fireplace, overlooked the parking lot, but was private due to...

Hotel was chosen by friends whom we visited in New Mexico. We wanted to check out a different place than last time. Good location, just at the begin of Canyon Road with over 100 galleries and walking distance to the Plaza and many restaurants. Our friends booked a room with a fire-place, which was nice. However, this room was right at the intersection of some very busy roads. Actually the entrance to the room was from the street - which did not give a very secure feeling. Car noise until late at night and then again very early in the morning. We tried to switch room, but hotel was fully booked. Manager was friendly, but nothing could be done (but she did send a bottle of wine to the room). Anyway quite disappointed, as we came a long way from Europe and this weekend was to celebrate my birthday....
Happy Hour with wine and snacks every afternoon. Very nice breakfast.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms on the street side. Funny enough, the most expensive rooms are there.... They have rooms...

We spent one night here last week. It was a better choice than the spooky La Fonda.
The happy hour was relaxing, breakfast was busy with all the baby boomers getting organic yogurt. The location was perfect for walking up Canyon Rd and then over to the Plaza.
I hope to return next fall when the weather is perfect!

Pros:
Lovely rooms - so clean and crisp,
Good service,
Good breakfast with nice perks like gluten-free granola and almond milk,
loved having the outdoor patio,
great beds - fluffy and comfortable,
the owner was on premise nearly every day, and was very friendly and helpful,
LOCATION is excellent.
Overall, the Inn is very charming and we did enjoy our visit

But...:
The wine and cheese reception was underwhelming. If you enjoy good wine, you can skip this.
The dining area did get very busy during breakfast and if you go at the peak time (which did seem to vary by day) it can be hard to find a place to sit.
Breakfast was good, but it was exactly the same every day. If you are spending more than a few days here, you may get tired of the repeat selections. (We were likely spoiled by the previous few days' breakfasts at the Inn at the Delta.)

We also had a minor issue with our room door. The staff were helpful and willing to fix the issue, but we found that the issue was not exactly resolved (although they said that it was). They did end up truly fixing the problem, and were very pleasant, helpful, and understanding. It was a blip in our experience but in the end they handled it wonderfully. We could not have asked for more.

Would we stay here again? Yes. But I would look around to see what our other options are, just in case.

There are lots of wonderful choices for places to stay in Santa Fe, but we always come back to this inn. The customer service is the best we've ever had; completely knowlegeable on restaurants, things to do. This time they even printed out various hikes and routes for us. Whenever we ask for directions, they always give us a map with the route highlighted.
Breakfast is an expanded continental breakfast, there are always 3 quiche and/or frittata's, stuffed croissants, a wonderful choice of pastries, fresh juices, hot and cold cereals, my favorite is the pumpkin granola. I also noticed this time, lots of non dairy soy products as well as gluten free. Charlie, the bartender is great, always recognizes us when we return, and makes the best Sangria ever! We love sitting by the fire in the lounge. The hottub is wonderful after a full day of hiking, either thru the mountains or just in town shopping. The rooms are great, wonderful bed, nice amenities,. The location is close to both the Plaza and Canyon Rd with great restaurants just down the street.

I just love the Inn on the Alameda. There are lots of choices on or near the Santa Fe Plaza and I've stayed in most of them. This is still my favorite. Fabulous customer service. Check-in receptionists couldn't be nicer. Love the wine & cheese happy hour - the bartender is so friendly and nice; the lounge is so warm and welcoming with the fire burning and a pretty tree growing in the middle of the room. We stayed in a suite and couldn't have be happier. My husband says it was bigger than his first apartment. The hardwood floors are gorgeous. Private sitting area outside. 2 TVs. Most importantly to me: the king-sized bed was super-comfortable. Nice and quiet. Excellent breakfast. Free wi-fi, free parking. great hospitality. Very comfortable, very romantic. Down-to-earth luxury. Love it!!!

My family took their yearly adventure to Santa Fe mid September this year (2011). We chose the Inn on the Alameda due to reviews, location and price. Boy did we get our money's worth in all aspects mentioned and more. The rooms were deluxe with ample space, a fireplace, balcony with furniture, and traditional southwestern decor. The staff was alway pleasant and accomodating. Breakfast was varied, ample and delicious. The lobby was spacious and inviting; we shared drinks and simple hors d'oeuvres in the afternoon. Even on our morning of departure the kitchen staff offered to pack a breakfast for us. This property is tops on my list!
