“Lovely hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2013

We stayed in the Hacienda part of this hotel and loved it. The staff was helpful and professional. The room had a lovely balcony and view. A continental breakfast was served in the lounge across the hall from our room. There was also a nightly wine and cheese. Our room had two double beds and a gas fireplace. The hotel had a nice pool area and was walking distance from the shops and restaurants, but there was van service if you didn't wish to walk

Room Tip: Stay in the Hacienda

There was nothing horribly deficient in our stay. It just was not up to par for the price.
* No valet parking
* No bellman
* No conceirge
* The "spa" consists of several small rooms for massage, plus a very small bathroom/locker room ~ no steam room; no hot tub ~ just very vanilla ~ I booked spa treatments online, only to find that I needed to make further arrangements for the actual appointment time (horrible system. I should only have to contact you one time to spend my hard-earned money in your spa).
* Suite was dark and small with no AC plugs for charging phones/computers/etc. until we moved a table/couch
* "Bar" consists of a 6' bar with a single beer on tap
* Parking lot was very small and hard to get in and out

In other words, the experience was one that I would expect for $100/night but not @ $275/night. I don't mind spending the extra money (and often do so) but my level of expectation rises proportionately.

Well!! I know that we just can’t please everyone all the time and if one wants to find fault, I guess it’s possible!! Physically “we are what we are”, but we certainly have bellmen and a concierge. Sorry your were disappointed.

We stayed at this hotel previously and liked it very much. This time we had two serious security problems. (1) When we entered our room there was an employee asleep on the couch (obviously, he was mortified). (2) They did a turndown service one night and left the door open/ajar. It was that way for many hours. The hotel is still nice but these problems, especially the second, were inexcusable.

Absolutely unacceptable!! Please accept my sincere apologies. Please let me know which room you were staying in/dates, etc., as this is indeed a severe breach of security. Again, my apologies. Please forgive us.

We were near the front of the hotel, our window overlooked the area where cars parked to check in and unload. A bit noisy, would have preferred an room not near the front desk and main street.
Dinner was good, they overcooked by Husband's meat, but redid it with efficiency and apology.
Easy to walk to the plaza.

We wanted a mid-range place to stay for a few days that was close to downtown.
Hotel Santa Fe is within walking distance to the Rail Yards, the Artists Market, and the downtown shopping and dining area.
It is clean, well maintained, the the staff here are very helpful and kind.
The grounds are not large, but there are flowers and first rate sculptures everywhere.
The pool is a selling point, and the hot tub proved to be a good place to meet fellow travellers.
We were happily upgraded to a junior suite, and we loved it.
There is a free shuttle for guests, but we did not require it.

Two of us stayed in a suite of the Hacienda for six nights while on a business trip to attend the Santa Fe Opera . My chief complaint of the hotel is that it bills itself as “the ultimate in luxury accomodations and personalized service”. A good hotel, yes; luxury, hardly. “…you will experience the personal service of our professionally trained butlers” Never saw hide nor hair of the butler. Not even a note under the door to ask if everything was to our satisfaction.

The good news is the location is great, rooms are clean, bed is comfortable and the shower was fabulous. Breakfast was fine and the breakfast patio was nice. However I expect this of any good hotel. I did not have any experience that made me feel I was somplace really special.

Annoying negatives were the only mirrors in the suite were in the bathroom so getting ready for the opera had to be a cooperative effort of scheduling bathroom time to get at the mirror. We had a lovely little balcony with two chairs but no side table on which to set one’s morning coffee or evening glass of wine until we rigged up a luggage rack with a serving tray. The upstairs neighbors were audible just walking around as was hallway traffic. The coffee maker leaked and supplies were not replenished daily.

Shame on us for not making the Butler more visible/attentive! And thank you for bringing this to my attention, especially over six nights!!

Sorry you were disappointed because most guests have a great time as you can see from these commentaries!

My husband and I have stayed at the Hotel Santa Fe several times in the last few year; it's a highlight of our time in the city: smaller than some other choices, but more intimate, and beautifully decorated in the southwestern motif. The ambiance of Indian flute-playing in the lobby, the artwork and color décor in the rooms, basketry of the Picuris tribe, etc... so many special details abound. It excels in the expected categories of service, cleanliness, and comfort, but can't be beat for its warm, southwestern ambiance.

Room Tip: Rooms with a small balcony afford an opportunity to leave the door open and "let Santa Fe in&qu...
