The staff was extremely attentive and friendly. The food and service were excellent. The decor was pure Southwest, with original Native American artifacts, pottery, sculptures, and art tastefully displayed throughout the hotel. We had no time to use the Spa. There is a free shuttle which runs throughout old Sante Fe throughout the day. Our room was large with gas fireplace, large bathroom, and tastefully decorated--and extremely quiet. The hotel is away from the traffic and crowds near the Plaza, Cathedral, and Palace--but close enough to walk if you desired. Many restaurants are close, though the food at the hotel was excellent you might not want to. The have a nice gift shop with Southwest art and jewelry--appropriately priced. We travel extensively, and we both believe this is in the top 1-3 places we have ever stayed.

Room Tip: The rooms in the Hacienda are much more private and quiet; the ambience amazing.

I adored this hotel as it had Native American heart; including the decor, ambience, food and weekend music/entertainment. Although this hotel is 12 minutes walk from the main plaza, their few shuttle service takes you where you want to go and picks you up. I highly recommend this hotel to ensure an authentic and enjoyable experience in Santa Fe.

We stayed in a Hacienda room. The rate included a continental breakfast, free WiFi and a beer/wine/snacks happy hour. Lubo, our butler, was excellent. The room was spacious and the bed comfortable. We did need more space for our clothes, and the view was of the street, but we were outdoors most of the time in Santa Fe. The staff at the Hotel Santa Fe were very helpful and courteous. We had a car so we were 5 minutes driving distance to Canyon Rd, the Plaza, museums and restaurants. Never had a problem parking at the hotel. I would highly recommend staying here in a Hacienda room.

Our room was fine: spacious and clean if a bit dated. The hotel is not as close to the Plaza as I was led to believe but a free shuttle service made that a moot point. The attitude of the desk personnel was hit and miss: one person was pleasant and helpful; another was condescending and surly. The $11 (plus tax and tip) for the below average continental breakfast is the worst value I've encountered in any hotel...an absolute ripoff of the highest order. Finally I was outraged by the resort fee. This hidden fee is not disclosed or itemized during the reservation process. Only after you arrive at the hotel are you made aware of the extra charge and forced to agree to it before you check in. Not the worst hotel I've stayed at but I won't be back.

I am sorry to learn of your disappointment. Our A.R.T. (Amenities, Resources and Transportation)/Resort Fee is certainly not hidden and our continental breakfast provides a great variety and for $5 more, you can have a full breakfast!

I am sorry that you won’t be back as we earnestly try to provide the very best service. With apologies and wishing you safe travels.

This is a wonderful hotel located in a perfect place to get the best of Santa Fe. Rooms are lovely, very clean and well set up. Restaurant is great food and the purple taxi and van. I just ran a small conference there and everyone had a super time. Especially loved the transportation options. Staff were courteous and professional.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights and met some friends that drove down from Colorado. The hotel is Native American owned which gives it an authentic atmosphere unlike a Hilton etc. The hotel is decorated in a true southwet decor, has a very serene atmosphere and is conveniently located within a 5-10 minute walk from all the Santa Fe Plaza shops and restaurants. Our room had a small desk area and a separate sitting area with a couch and TV. The balcony overlooked the dining patio. We took two day trips to Madrid and Taos. The landscape is wonderful and sightseeting was a treat. There are a few things I would recommend if you stay here. Eat breakfast at the hotel. There is a wonderful continental breakfast availble every morning or you can choose to sit down in the wonderfully appointed dining area to order from the menu. Experience the shopping and culture of the Plaza and also take a walk down Canyon Road (a short 5 minute) drive from the hotel. There are numerous galleries and shops on this road. Quite a few photo ops as the art is all over the two sides of the street. If you like take short driving tours then I could suggest a day or half day to the town of Madrid. Very small little town with numerous shops and art. Also, we took a day trip up the high road to Taos. Beautiful drive with lots of stops along the way to take pictures and capture the serenity. Once at Taos, we ate a small lunch at The Gorge and wondered through the shops speckled along the streets there. The real treat was driving over the Rio Grande Gorge. Only a short distance once in Taos, there is a bridge that spans over this Gorge that is worth driving to. You can stop at the other side, get out and walk on the bridge. Look down and get a perspective on how high you are. If you really want to soak in the experience bring a picnic and sit at the tables along side the Gorge. Drive time with numerous stops along the way was about 2 hours each way. The weather this time of year fluctuated from 60-70 during the day to about 40-50 at night so bring a light jacket for those times when the sun goes behind the clouds. Favorite lunch spot- Harry's Roadhouse. Be prepared to wait a little but worth the wait. Best place for dinner- Rio Chama. Stone throw from The Plaza. This place had large and small places. Great atmosphere and great food! Summary- If you like art galleries than you will absolutely love Santa Fe. Food is good here and there are no shortages of Mexican resaurants. Shopping is pricey as you will find most items hand made and authentic. Scenery along driving tours is breathtaking and well worth a day or two of your trip. The Hotel Santa Fe- by far the best choice if you want authenticity and quiet.

Room Tip: We stayed in a small suite with a sitting area, computer desk area and balcony. Our room had a smal...

We were in Santa Fe last October, and I reviewed Hotel Santa Fe after a 3 day stay. I had nothing but good things to report. This month (May '13) we returned for a week, and if it's possible, HSF was even better this time.

The design, decor, and larger mini-suites are exceptional, but that's what one would expect of a 4 star hotel (at least 4 stars)! Aside from decor, atmosphere, and perfect location, what really separates this hotel from others is its staff. Never, repeat, never have we been afforded such wonderful treatment by any staff anywhere we've stayed. They are exceptional--from the general manager, Paul Margetson to his chief assistant, Shawna Martinez.

The front desk staff are among the warmest, most sincere folks I've encountered. They are to be commended, and when you stay there, you'll quickly see why I say that, and you'll agree. Their names, in alphabetical order, are: Alyssa, Antoinette, Avery (shuttle driver), Eloy, Gabe, Jonathan, and Robert. What a difference they made by taking time to make suggestions as to where to eat, what to see, and by giving various tips and directions to us.

We stayed in the original section, which affords first class accommodations. But we were also shown the newest part of the hotel: The Hacienda. WOW! We'll stay there next time. The rooms are not just nice, but are luxurious. The hallways are filled with alcoves featuring original Native American art in various genres. The regular rooms are beautiful, well furnished, and large. The suites are the essence of luxury--huge and incredibly well done.

If you have not yet visited and stayed at Hotel Santa Fe--do yourself a favor. Stay there, and you'll soon understand why we returned, and why we will return again. It is a gem of a hotel.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the hotel's east side--preferably a small suite. If possible, try one of their...
