“Pleasant spot - a little different”
Reviewed May 10, 2013

We had an upstairs room with a balcony. We enjoyed the unique furniture pieces, and the nice landscaping here - it could use a little TLC, but it was early spring, so might look better later on. If you want something different, not the cookie cutter hotel, this could be it. Not great, not bad , but pleasant enough with very nice folks helping with the breakfast in the am. in the cozy breakfast room. We had an easy time getting downtown and parking in the garage.

Room Tip: Hard getting the luggage up the stairs - might want to be down.

Enjoyed my 6-night stay. Clean and comfortable. Slept well! Staff very pleasant. Landscaping is lovely, with benches placed in cozy spots to sit and enjoy. Minor issues: oven didn't work and was examined but never fixed. Probably will be replaced. Not a huge problem, and they did provide me with a toaster oven. Also, laundry room is not key access, but I think it should be. Maybe I travel with big city paranoia, but I was a little nervous in there alone at night. All in all, a very nice place from what I could see. I would definitely stay there again.

This is a really lovely property in sort of a run-down part of town. It's unique, clean, comfortable and a good value, and every staff member was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was solid, and there was a very nice lady working the dining area offering tortillas (cheese & green chile available to go with) and bananas.

They have a bus stop right outside, which made getting into town ($1 each way) easy in 15 mins or less. And there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance if you don't mind stretching your legs for 0.5 mi or so each way.

Only issues:
1) I saw couple of ants coming from under the tub, which I told them about, as there is a crack that needs to be sealed.
2) The room 'key' caused some issues - one couldn't be too quick or too slow after removing the card from the door to get it to work, which was a little frustrating.

Overall, an excellent experience, and I would definitely stay here again!

We just returned from a 3 day stay at the beautiful El Rey Inn. We had a great time. Sylvia provided excellent customer service and ensured our time there was the best it could be! Thank you, Sylvia, and the staff at the El Rey. We will return as soon as we can!

Well cared for nostalgic motor court that has been updated and maintained. The location was close to everything we wanted to see. Check in was easy and all people we encountered were polite and helpful. The grounds are park like and pleasing to the eye. The outside hot tub is large and worked good when we were there.

The hotel was recommended to us by some family friends, whom frequent Santa Fe regularly. The property with its adobe buildings were very cute. Our room had two double beds was very clean, quiet, and reminded us a bit of what "Old Santa Fe" must have felt like. There was a sink in the bathroom and another just outside, which was perfect for our girl's vacation. The value was very good, including breakfast, but I would have liked to stay closer to downtown to be able to walk and explore the area without a rental car (a must have if you stay in Santa Fe)!
We would definitely stay there again since it was tranquil and only 10 minutes drive to downtown.

We enjoyed our stay so much at the El Ray Inn in Santa Fe New Mexico. This is truly a taste of the Land of Enchantment! Very peaceful, very clean and most beautifully decorated! We were created with warm smiles and they took care of our room needs. The grounds also are very beautifully done in the Southwest flavor. This is where one needs to stay if you want a peaceful and authentic look and stay in Santa Fe. Thank you El Ray... we will be back!

Room Tip: All rooms have great qualities and great views. Just depends on what you need.
