Old Town's Plaza is really a pretty place to spend a few hours. There are benches in the plaza, which is tree lined and shady; there are shops around the square catering to tourists; and on one side of the plaza, the Indians from local pueblos, Santo Domingo, Taos and others come to see their jewelry. Most only take cash, but there are those who take plastic. Some of the jewelry is average, most is really good, and some are outstanding! There was a necklace there that I'm still lusting after, but it was too pricey for this lady. I did buy two pairs of turquoise earrings (the turquoise came from Arizona) for $25 each. Both pairs had the sterling silver earwires and the stones were hallmarked by the maker.
At the "dimestore" I found the perfect tee shirts for my two sons. Homeland Security started here! I know they'll get a kick out of them!
