Four Seasons Resort Rancho Encantado Santa Fe
Ranked #10 of 60 Hotels in Santa Fe
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed September 8, 2010

As frequent visitors to Santa Fe we have always stayed downtown near the Plaza. Believing that it was essential to be conveniently located in the heart of Santa Fe. We decided to stay at the Encantado Resort. A superb decision. Everything about the resort was first rate. The room was spacious and extremely comfortable. The patio relaxing a perfect place to enjoy breakfast. We had drinks at sunset and dinner on the patio followed by dessert around the fire. What a treat. We retired to our room, to enjoy a bottle of wine and savored the pinon fire. Our most favored amenities were not listed in the in room guide: the solitude, star filled New Mexican sky, the scent of mountain sage, the beautiful views and beautiful clean air. The staff were superb. At times it is difficult to find great team members in Santa Fe, no wonder they are all right here. This is where we will stay when visiting Santa Fe.Can not wait to return. Enchantment it is!

I can't laud this resort enough - from check in to check out, the staff couldn't have been more solicitous. Every question was answered, maps provided, bookings made, restaurants recommended - and I would particularly like to commend the concierge, Jody, who can do anything [she even called us prior to our arrival to ask what she could do].
I know many have complained about the bad view over the parking area; we had booked suites #63 & 65 which had wonderful views and outside patios with lounge chairs - best to go over this when booking.
The suites were wonderful, spacious and comfortable and the housekeeping staff was attentive to every detail - luscious towels were abundant, everything carefully cleaned and arranged. The soaps and lotions were delicious and bottled water was left bedside every night along with cookies.
The spa is one of the nicest I have ever been to, wonderfully relaxing with excellent massage therapists - it is quite expensive, more so than others I've been to.
The resort has a nice exercise room and private yoga [fee] and an outdoor pool as well as a very good restaurant [with patio overlooking superb NM sunsets]. There is not a lot for young children.
Since the resort is outside of Sante Fe [about 15 minutes by car] a car is recommended. There is so much to do - golf, fishing and hikes as well as things farther afield that a car is really necessary. And of course it is a MUST to go to the Sante Fe opera house which is a glorious structure performing world class opera [july and august only].
In short, this was one of the most relaxing and enjoyable resorts I've been to in a long time - luxury, relaxation and beauty along with plenty to do - if inspired to leave the Encantado at all!

From the reviews and photos I was expecting much more. The hotel was clean, comtemporary and sleek and the rooms were very comfortable; however, the views from almost every room or casita was of the parking lot. Encantodo is very isolated, so if you just want to relax and hang out by the pool this may be the place for you.

The hotel has a fleet of Mercedes Benz to take you into town but the night we requested one, we got picked up in a van that had 6 other couples and was told that they stopped picking people up in town at 10PM. So forget any late dinners.

I didn't use the spa at the hotel but I talked to another guest who said the services weren't that great!! If I ever go back to Santa Fe I would stay in town.

My wife and I came here for my 40th birthday celebration. We have traveled and stayed at many amazing spa and resorts in the world. Encantado compares favorably to them. The service was impeccable, the sunsets over the mountains are breathtaking and the food is amazing. We got upgraded to a suite with our own fireplace and it was nice to hang out drink wine and make smores. They have a program where you can borrow their mercedes, which I would not recommend during the winter time as its easy to skid out. Its not in central Santa fe, and requires about a 20 minute drive, but they do have shuttles. If you want a place to get away, take in beautiful scenery, really good food, this is a place to go. We definitely want to come back here.

Absolutely the best hotel/resort experience of my life! What a place! First, upon arrival to the airport, the hotel picked us up in a limosine and took us to the resort. Upon arrival, we were greeted with class, genuine care and nothing but appreciation. Upon entering our Vista Casita, the room is unreal. The views of the sunrise/sunset are unreal. Free in-room beverages, a wood burning adobe fireplace, spotless rooms, a gorgeous patio, heated floor bathrooms, a sunken tub and a beyond comfortable bed made being there like pure heaven. The pool was great with excellent food and beverage service poolside. The spa is unremarkable! Truly the best of my life. a private couples suite, first class service and an amazing massage made the day unreal!!!

Finally, free use of the convertible BMWs onsite and friendly transport and pickup to and from downtown Santa Fe via made the experience truly the best of my lifetime.

Thank you Encantado!!! We will be back soon!!!!!!!

Beautiful rooms with wood burning fires, a great terrace bar to have dinner while watching the sunset and a tranquil spa - all in all a great property. Worth paying extra for an upper level casita and we were unexpectedly offered an upgrade to a suite which made the rate look like a bargain!

I guess it was our fault for not noticing that Pets are allowed here, but at the POOL?
I never expected an Auberge Resort and Leading Hotels of the World member to be so tolerant as to allow dogs at the Pool. And we're not talking little toy poodles. This couple had 3 dogs; a bulldog, something as big as a sheep and another one. We were lucky to have found a couple of lounges away from them, but my wife's allergic and this was not our idea of "Relaxation in a Desert Oasis". The other issue was the umbrella shortage. It's New Mexico! They have 300 days/year of sunshine. The resort should have enough umbrellas at the pool, so you don't have to feel guily to come out from under yours to get some sun.
Everything else was great. Rooms clean, restaurant $$$ but good.
