“Great Cheese Shop”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 18, 2013

What a great little cheese shop! The cheese board and pastrami sandwich were both delicious and very artfully presented. Nice wines to go with the cheese. The selection of cheese to be purchased is quite large as well as crackers, seasonings and other items related to the enjoyment of cheese. Richard, the Cheesemonger, and Sherri, his wife and Cheese Executive Officer, could not have been more gracious and knowledgeable. As this was our first trip to Friday Harbor, they shared information about local restaurants, the farmers market, etc. Really a delightful couple and staff. Highly recommend this pleasant shop as a great place for lunch and light snacks. Joe and Ginger

“Perfect Break”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 10, 2013

We stumbled upon this Cheese shop after returning our Moped to Susie's. We hadn't had time for lunch that day, and it was still a bit too early for dinner, so when we saw the sign outside advertising cheese boards, we didn't hesitate to go in. I didn't know what to expect, but I was very pleasantly surprised. Those working in the shop were very friendly and helpful taking time to explain the cheeses, as well as provide samples of beer and wine so we could decide what to order. When we received our order, it was everything a cheese board should be, with all the right accompaniments. They hit all the right notes with sweet and tart fruits and spreads, marcona almonds, bread and delicate buttermilk crackers from one of the local bakeries. They have a nice sunny back courtyard where we enjoyed our find and took a nice break. I skipped the alcohol and instead had a Lavender Soda that I'm sure I won't find anywhere else. This is a worthwhile stop, quality all the way!

“A Class Act”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2013

We were greeted by Richard, the Cheesemonger (and owner, we presume). He reminded us a chap from home, extremely knowledgeable and almost effervescent. Richard helped us select a cheese board and saw to it that we could easily balance a terrific lunch at a spacious table with managing our travel laundry at a nearby laundromat. Sounds easy, but not necessarily so. All came off without drama thanks to Richard and the excellent staff. The presentation of the cheese board was perfect and a challenge to any sushi chef in symmetry and creativity. Finally, the atmosphere matched the cheese and presentation - clean lines, architecturally simple, and light.

“Love this place!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 1, 2013

Knowledgeable and friendly staff. We spent our entire afternoon at San Juan Cheese drinking wine and sampling amazing local cheese. Love the outdoor dining surrounded by a fantastic herb garden and the largest swiss chard plant I've ever seen. I will have fond memories of Friday Harbor (my first visit) because of this place.
