We went to Friday Harbour for a quick weekend get away and this was where we ate the first night after it was recommended by our hotel. We got their special roll for the day (a crab and bay scallops California roll of sorts, amazing crab and creamy bay scallops yum! ) along with some of our favourites, mackerel (really great), salmon (always good, how can one go wrong with salmon), cooked shrimp (the best we've had), and a spicy seared tuna sashimi which was amazing! We also got the tasting of saki which was really fun and a bit of a treat. The waiters were knowledgable and as always it's great to watch and converse with the chefs. We also got miso soup and it was some of the best I have had. The broth was really flavourful and perfect after a slightly cool day out whale watching.
A previous reviewer commented that there was better sushi in Bellingham. We're from B'ham (Bellingham) and I have to say this beat any sushi restaurant there. Perhaps we went on a good or a bad day, but I would rate this place much higher than anything you can find in Bellingham. Now there are a few amazing spots in Seattle (and other cities) that might be on par with this or possibly better, but that's for a different review.
The prices were a bit high, but when compared with prices just anywhere on the island they were in the right ball park. High but fair for the going rate on the island. It is a tourist town and everything is more expensive, even at the grocery store and at the dive bar.
When we get a chance to go back to Friday Harbour we definitely plan to go back to this spot.
