I have been listening to the hydrophone at Lime Kiln State Park for some time -- love hearing the orcas underwater when they are in the area. So it was a treat that I actually got to visit. Easy trails and interesting tide pools occupy your time if the orcas aren't in the area. Also, they have tons of information about the southern resident killer whales and the transients in the area which will provide you more information in an hour than 100 trips to Sea World. This is a very peaceful and beautiful place.

We enjoyed visiting Lime Kiln Park and the interpretive center in August. We were able to meet one of the researchers who spends three months every summer observing and recording whale passings. An informative video is also part of this very worthwhile exhibit! Going here prior to our whale watching excursion made for a better experience. Highly recommend!

The views were stunning while we were there. It's an easy walk but you should still wear sturdy shoes. Sandals were okay.

We went there because we hoped to see the Orca pods that usually hang out there. We just missed them (but got to see them a few days later by boat). No one prepared us for the peaceful beauty we encountered (the name - Lime Kilns doesnt exactly evoke much expectations and we almost did not go) and we wished we would have taken a picnic with us to enjoy it more fully.
