They advertise themselves as a Hybrid Hotel...just a bone tired 1950 Motel with some paint and new furnishings. Plumbing is still old and noisy with lots of sound travelling between walls. I really felt that I paid way too much for this room and regretted every hour I stayed there. Made my trip to Friday Harbour a BUST!

I'm not sure what drove the complaints of others. We had a "Sea Place," which translates to a large, suite-like room with two queen beds and a kitchenette with dining area. The fall season price was $147 per night for two nights. I've stayed in worse places for far more money.

The accommodation was clean and comfortable and the dishware, glasses and silverware provided in the kitchen came in handy. The same goes for the dining table and chairs. We made use of the laundry room and the staff was helpful with providing quarters for the machines. We didn't use the pool or jacuzzi. Even if we'd had our swimsuits I don't think I'd have gone in. Both could have used a good cleaning, especially a vacuum of the bottom.

The lobby is mod and stylish, as was the decor in the Sea Place. The location is very convenient to Friday Harbor's main attractions and the road was pretty quiet until late morning - not bad for a weekday.

All in all, we had no complaints. Elements was the perfect spot for our San Juan Island exploration.

My husband and I just spent 5 days at Elements in Friday Harbor and had a delightful experience. The room was attractively furnished and very clean. The mattresses had just been replaced and were incredibly comfortable with several pillows. The towels were very thick and luxurious. Finally, we found the staff to be very courteous and accomodating. The location was excellent. What more would anyone want?

I stayed at elements this past weekend for one night. I booked here out of necessity as I could not find any other accommodation on the island at the last minute. I was a bit nervous as there are some very bad reviews here. The fact is, elements do not advertise themselves as a 5 star luxury resort. Basically it is an old motel that has been renovated. I was expecting 'a little bit of Mo' (Motel - as per their website) and that is exactly what I got!! The room was exactly as pictured on their website. . We had an Earth room on the ground floor with 2 double beds and wooden floors. The walls are quite thin so noise carries, especially from the room above. We used the room as a base to explore Friday Harbor and it suited that purpose just fine. I wouldn't be jumping up and down to return to Elements but overall my experience was not too bad.

I am not sure how or why they call it a hotel and spa this is a motel with hotel prices. Our toilet had a few flushing problems Yuck! Having a small dorm room refrigerator sitting on the floor with a microwave stacked on it and a coffee pot stacked on top of that well if that sounds like a hotel well go for it and spend the money. We won't make that mistake again. They did have matching house coats???? does that make it a spa?

The property is not worth the $200+ per night. We had originally paid for two nights - but when we arrived, the site was not as we had hoped (it's actually more of a vintage motel that has been spruced up with a new coat of paint) and had requested to shorten our stay to one night. The hotel would not accomodate us and told us they would only offer a refund if they could resell our room (not really an option since the motel was not full).

As it turns out, there is no airconditioning in the rooms and our room was hot and stuffly. The only adivce from the front staff was to turn on the portable fan, open the window or leave the room door ajar. Rather than suffer through an uncomfortable night, we opted to take another room in lieu of staying another night. So in the end, we paid over $450+ for one night to stay in non-airconditioned motel rooms.

If you are looking for nicely appointed quaint property which offers service at the the level which usually accompanies a $200+ rate than this is not the place for you.

This is not a motel I would recommend.

This hotel was terribly overpriced. The website makes it look like a true hotel and spa and you may think it is by the price. However, imagine an old motel that has some new paint and trendy (but cheap) decorations. Not to mention you will hear everything your neighbors are talking about since the walls are paper thin. We listened to our neighbors cell phone conversation for nearly a half hour. We knew it was her cell phone because we could hear it ring.
Their website shows rooms that look nice with hardwood floors which was the furthest you can get from the room we had.
The location is good and the staff is nice. The motel itself needs some serious work to account for the price
Overall, I will not stay here again since there are much nicer properties on the island for better prices.
