Three of us gals took the ferry to Friday Harbor to have lunch and shop. We had planned to go to the Downrigger restaurant so we could sit out on their large outdoor deck but it had had a fire and was about half destroyed! So we tried the Blue Water Bar & Grill. We wanted to sit outside so opted to sit at a table in the bar and ordered a glass of wine and crab cakes to have while we waited. That was a great way to be waiting! We didn't wait all that long, and the table we got outside was directly in line with the ferry sitting at the terminal. Great view. I noticed there was seating around the railings with bar stools and that would be fine for a couple to sit at. Two of us shared the fish tacos and I thought they were excellent but my girlfriend said she would have preferred a more traditional taco with salsa, tomatoes, etc. These had diced mango and a kind of sweet sauce. The batter on the fish was deliciously crunchy. The crab cakes were good-sized and very tasty and we 3 shared one, then the other gal had one with a Caesar salad which she said was very good. The service was very good and it is amazing how these restaurants cope with having waves of people descend on them every time the ferry arrives. The only small "down" side comment was the yellow jackets that eventually smelled their way to our crab cakes and were buzzing around our plates. I didn't notice a baited bee trap but if they didn't have one it would've been a good idea to use one. Our friend didn't have her epi-pen and had gone to the hospital the last time she was stung/bit so had to get up from the table to get away from the yellow jackets. I would definitely go back here. It will be hard to order something other than the tacos!
