“Excellent, three nights in a row”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 12, 2012

I had no intentions of going three nights to the same place, but as I checked other places, I found myself returning to the Cask, which seems to be the local hang-out place as well as a favourite for summer residents. Nice relaxed pub atmosphere, cute brick bar, great friendly service.

I liked sitting at the bar, having wine and chatting. On the first visit, I ordered the local white wine and mussels. Both excellent, the mussels were plump and flavourful. Night two: red wine and a surprising pink beet salad, with pecans, blue cheese, apple and greens - very very good. Third night, I ordered the local red wine again, and the special, a brothello (yes I know, what a name) which is something like a thick French bouillabaisse: a fish and seafood stew in a garlicky broth, served with rouille. This was absolutely, hands down, amazing. And plentiful - I finished it for lunch the next day!

“Great Eats”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 6, 2012

The food and service was great. Our group ate fish and chips, scallops and the house special which was grilled salmon. All were cooked to perfection. The salads were fresh and a nice size. Our waitress was on the ball and the atmosphere was pleasant.

“Ok for Pub Food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 3, 2012

We ate here one evening and were seated upstairs by the exit door. The table for two didn't even have chairs at first. Service was a bit slow and out of synchronization as soup came before wine. Clam chowder was good, hearty, and quite spicy. Fish and chips were good. Probably good food by pub standards.

“Razor clam chowder”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 30, 2012

We enjoyed our first night on the island by having dinner at this fine establishment. The razor clam chowder was incredible. They also have a wide variety of beer on tap and a great cocktail menu. Loved the jalapeno margarita!

“Great salads.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 26, 2012

Steak salad and beet salads for lunch. Both excellent, especially the steak, it was the most tender steak we have had on a salad. Moderately priced for a location within a block of the ferry. We sat at the bar and the service was good and food prompt despite a near full house.
