Amazing as always!!! I would never stay anywhere else in Friday Harbor! We've stayed in the Euros before, this time was a special occasion so we opted for one of the penthouses for the weekend. Penthouse 2 has the best view! It was absolutely gorgeous. Very modern and simplistic, with large windows, really allows the stellar views of the harbor to shine! 2 decent sized bedrooms, comfortable queen (?) beds. 2 bathrooms, the master had a steam shower and heated floors. Beautiful kitchen with modern appliances. Comes stocked with a couple individual Milks and orange juices. Fresh fruit daily. We didn't want to leave!

There was also a rooftop sitting area, the weather didn't really cooperate the weekend we were there though- plus the stairs were basically like a ladder, straight up. Would be amazing during the summer.

There were only a few minor issues/complaints about our accommodations....
1. The biggest being the pots and pans... They were stainless steel, without nonstick coating. Literally EVERYTHING we tried to cook stuck and burned! It was a real struggle.
2. We ordered the optional add on "birthday package", at an additional $40, for 4 cupcakes and a balloon bouquet. Sadly, the cupcakes were terrible, I don't know where they purchase them, but the frosting tasted like whipped butter, not even frosting. No good at all and not worth the $40 paid.

Staff is friendly and helpful as always... I recommend the Island inn to anyone planning to visit the island.

Hello Elizabeth D,

Thanks so much for your return visit and for taking the time to share your experience! We’re thrilled that you, once again, enjoyed an amazing experience with us and found our team to be just as helpful and friendly as always.

We agree that Penthouse 2 is unquestionably the spot for special occasions and for soaking INN all that our sleepy town and active harbor have to offer. Offering big views, two King bedrooms, flexible living space, equipped kitchen and a rooftop deck, Penthouse 2 does make leaving difficult!

You’re spot on with your description of the rooftop deck access. We call those hybrid staircases ‘Ship’s Ladders’ as they’re more of a ladder than a staircase. Here’s hoping that your next visit features more favorable roof-deck weather! Rest assured that we’ll review our pots and pans right away to make certain that they’re the right choice for fixing fantastic feasts.

Please accept our sincere apologies for missing the mark on your custom cupcakes. We order all of our baked goods from the Island’s best cake-baker, so it seems that the flavor and style weren’t quite right for you. Be sure to get INN touch with us before your next visit and we’ll work through her almost endless flavor combinations with you to make certain that the next round of cupcakes you taste are the off-the-charts-amazing, and, our treat!

We appreciate your visits, as well as this valuable insight, and can’t wait to welcome you back yet again!

All the best,

The Island Inn ‘never stay anywhere else’ Ambassadors

I was very impressed by the friendly staff and the level of service at Island Inn. It's located within steps of the ferry terminal and offers parking for those are driving in. If I needed anything, all I had to do was ask. The accommodations were modern and had a tint of European minimalism. It is perfect for those looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Room tip: Penthouse has roof top access, perfect during summer days, and oh, they have pet friendly accommodations (but do ask).

Hello Shawn D,

Fantastic! We’re thrilled that you were impressed by our team and that our top-notch service helped make your experience worthy of such a flattering rating!

We also appreciate your room tip regarding our Penthouses and pet-friendly accommodations. Penthouses 2, 4, and 6 do indeed offer wonderful roof decks perfect for soaking INN the sun, as well as keeping an eye on our sleepy town and active harbor. Our popular puppy-friendly accommodations are Penthouse 7, Penthouse 4, and Sweet 5.

Thanks so much for choosing us to escape the hustle and bustle and for taking the time to share your experience. We look forward to your next visit!

We spent 2 days in Penthouse 1, their best unit. The one bedroom suite is 1200 SF with a full kitchen subzero frig, steam bath and 2 bathrooms. The view from both living room and the bedroom is stunning! Watching the ferry and seaplanes in the harbor is fun! We have a beach house with bay view at Newport Balboa Peninsula but the hotel room view is equal to it! We are going back here next year!

Hello fmcsbu,

Wonderful! We appreciate your visit as well as your flattering comments and are glad to hear that Penthouse 1 was on-par with your beach house.

We agree that there’s nothing quite as cool as overlooking the active harbor with all of the ferry and float plane activity. There’s no question that Penthouse 1 offers the best seat INN town!

Here’s to your next visit!

My husband took me to The Island Inn at 123 west to explore San Juan Island for my birthday. Due to missing our ferry, our arrival time was really late, almost 1am. The front desk staff was very friendly and had no problem waiting for us to arrive to make sure we got situated comfortably.

We stayed in suite 5, and our dogs loved it! There were 2 large dog beds, 2 sets of food/water bowls, dog treats etc. my husband informed me it was hard to find a place that accommodates dogs, so this was a huge plus for us!

The room was spacious, clean and we loved all the natural light beaming in from the wall of windows. We also loved the fresh fruit and granola.

What was really special to me, was the staff left a birthday surprise for when we came back to our room. A cute card signed by their team, a bar or chocolate, fresh flowers, and a cute little music box. Talk about going above and beyond, I felt very special!

I definitely recommend staying here, the location is perfect for the ferry and walking distance from plenty of shops, restaurants and the farmers market.

Hello MacKenzie K,

We love birthdays, puppies, and crafting exceptional guest experiences! We’re flattered that your husband chose us for your birthday getaway and are thrilled that you all loved your visit with us off the coast of ordinary.

As you’ve noted, our entire team is dedicated to doing all that they can to make certain that our guests’ experiences are as enjoyable as possible – even if that means burning the midnight oil!

Sweet 5 is an awesome spot and one of our favorite puppy friendly accommodations. We’re delighted that you appreciated our ‘Puppy Pass’ amenities as well as your surprise birthday goodies.

This was our first time on San Juan Island and the Island Inn was a perfect home base for all of our exploring. It's located right off the ferry terminal, close to restaurants and activities, and reasonably priced.

Staff were very welcoming and friendly and it's nice to have a reserved parking spot so if you're driving to the island I would strongly recommend calling ahead and securing a parking spot in their garage.

We stayed in one of the Euro rooms and even though they say they don't have windows, ours had frosted glass and a small window by the door which made it feel more open. The room was nicely furnished and the Euro View Share room was empty throughout our stay so we enjoyed some time in there as well. It's hard to beat the location of the Inn for its proximity to the water and other areas in Friday Harbor.

Hello sloth790,

Thanks so much for your visit and for taking the time to share your experience with us! We’re flattered that you found us to be the ‘perfect’ home base for your first San Juan Island exploration!

We also appreciate your kind words for our team and are delighted that you found your Euro guestroom to feel more open than you had anticipated. While we do market our Euros as small no-view sleeping rooms with access to a shared living space, Euro 1 does offer an outside window to let the fresh Island air INN and sneak a peak of the ferry.

Your tip regarding parking is also spot-on. We have fewer garage parking spaces than we do guestrooms so it’s important to reserve a spot before arrival. Of course, our location right INN the middle of Friday Harbor makes walking and bicycling on the ferry a breeze as well.

We look forward to your next visit!
