This summer was our 4th time staying at Snug and we couldn't imagine staying anywhere else on the island! We have stayed in one and two bedroom cabins and they are awesome. Very clean and comfortable and you can't beat the location. Maya's whale watch boats are there and they are the best of the best too ! Ken the manager and Michele at the front desk will go above and beyond making sure your stay is perfect.

Thanks for the great review! Four years running and planning to continue really says it all. But I especially appreciate the specific shout outs for Ken and Meshelle. They work so hard to ensure our guests needs are met. At a small island resort there are many challenges one doesn't find elsewhere. They continually rise to every occasion and come out with even more skills than before. We are proud of all our staff for their great work ethic, attitudes, and care for our guests and the property.
If you haven't visited on the off-season, I recommend it. The island is quieter, it's stunning, and there are many things you may not notice in the summer, like The Whale Museum, San Juan Island Museum of Art, the very old movie theater in Friday Harbor, and much more. Summer isn't the only time to visit us at Snug.
See you next time!

Our family loved this spot and wished we had booked an additional day. The staff was so friendly and went out of their way to help out and make our kids feel welcome. We enjoyed exploring the docks, going out on the boats, making s’mores every night at the fire pits and enjoying grilling meals out on the decks. We had three families and were able to have a couple cabins next to each other. The views are all great and it was so peaceful just watching the boats come and go.

We spent 3 nights at Snug Harbor and it was a great experience! We stayed in cabin 17. The cabins are beautiful with great views of the water. There are plenty of water activities available (canoeing, paddleboarding etc). The cabins don't have AC, which would have been nice as we were traveling with a baby but the fans work very well. I would definitely come back!!

It's great to read you had a great experience at Snug Harbor. Cabin 17 is one of our most recently built cabins with dishwashers in the kitchens and king beds in each of the two bedrooms. Plenty of room for a porta crib in each bedroom. I was recently on the docks when one of the marina tenants asked if he could have a cleat from the old docks when they get replaced this winter. He took his first steps on the docks at Snug Harbor. I hope we can be a part of your family's special memories, too.
Thanks for the review!

Our cabin was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. We enjoyed sitting in the Adirondack chairs outside and enjoying a beverage while taking in the view of the bay. The resort feels secluded without being remote. It was very easy to drive to all the beaches, points of interest and Friday Harbor, then come back to our peaceful getaway.
We thoroughly enjoyed the Maya's Legacy Whale Watching tour which took off from the marina right outside our door.
Would highly recommend this resort to anyone who wants to be away from the hub-bub of town, but also wants easy access to it.

Thank you for your review. I hope you'll be able to visit sometime in "the off-season," as clearly you did well to explore around the island this summer. I believe it only grows more beautiful along the backroads as the year winds down. And it is on drizzly days that one can enjoy the many galleries, the history museum, and the Whale Museum. There is also incredible theatrical talent on the island.
And if you like to witness building projects, this December Snug Harbor will be replacing it's marina with state-of-the-art environmentally friendly new floats and wharf.
Hope to see you again soon!

We recently stayed 3 nights at this waterfront resort- wished it had been longer. We walked into the cabin and immediately fell in love with the view. The kitchen was compact but had everything that we needed. My son said the pull out couch was ok. The shower had an outdoor feel (a good thing). The property had paddle boards, kayaks, canoes, bocce balls and fire pits for use. You could also borrow games and movies from the office. It is a little remote, so helpful if you have a car. Caution- internet very spotty and no a/c. Neither one of these issues really bothered us, although our teenager may disagree. Would absolutely recommend and would love to return.

Room Tip: 1 bedroom cabin- plenty of room for 3 people

I'm so glad you had a great visit at Snug. You're not alone in wishing for a longer visit. One gentleman emailed to me saying his two boys want to come back every year for two months!

Your teenager might be surprised to learn that our internet is on a new (this spring) fiber optic network that is the best the island has to offer. Pretty amazing when you realize power and internet comes through cables under water from the mainland.

And thank you for pointing out that we are a bit remote. I'm sure that's a large part of the appeal, particularly during the busy high season of summer on the island. While we stock our shop with some things to make meals like Beecher's mac and cheese, frozen pizzas and ice cream, milk, eggs, pastas and sauces, snacks and appies, those wishing to prepare full meals will want to bring groceries from Friday Harbor. There are Belgian waffles, pastries including our very popular chocolate croissants, coffees and teas in our Mitchell Bay Coffee shop. There are also many restaurant options in Friday and Roche, just 10-20 minutes by car.

We hope you'll be able to return for a longer visit next time.
