We recently enjoyed a brief stay at the Snug Harbor resort and marina, and would recommend it for a stay on San Juan Island. We got off to an uncertain start, arriving at about 7.30pm to find the place in pitch darkness and not a sole around so we could check in. After dialing the number I had and hearing the unanswered phone in the dark empty office I started wondering if this was an early bird place and we'd missed some rule about daytime check-ins only... However, someone in the marina had the manager's mobile number and called him. It turned out he was only off site at this time because his cat had been ran over, he was overly apologetic and I felt bad for him (cat survived by the way). During our stay he was very friendly and helpful, making sure we had anything we needed, equipping us for our kayaking on the harbour, and even allowing to check out late and enjoy our late breakfast on our porch. The cabins are very nice, on the rustic side but that is what you come here for. They were a decent enough size for two and the kitchen was equipped enough for our needs. They really do run along the waterfront which is very nice, the isolated location of this place is fantastic. At night you have deer grazing outside and we were lucky enough to catch some aurora activity. Ideally situated a short drive from Friday Harbor and close to Lime Kiln Park too. If you are looking for rustic isolation and access to water this is the spot, there is nothing nearby for food and drink so come prepared and you'll enjoy it. The only negative (except maybe being overpriced a tad) was how non-soundproof the cabins were. Not only were the walls thin enough to hear voices, but there's also a lot of shaking and rattling with neighbouring movements in and out of the front door. It didn't overly bother us for our brief stay but it would have for any length of time. I would definitely stay again, but I'd shell out more for the detached cabins for sure...
