Owner description: An Intimate Small Boat Experience With A Six Passenger Max Limit for a very personal experience. Whale Watching is our passion! Your goal is to see whales and our goal is to show them to you. Captain Ken has been a professional mariner for 37 years serving as captain mainly on ocean tugs on the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. He has worked small cruise ships in SE Alaska and Inside Passage and Excursion vessels on the Columbia and Snake Rivers from Astoria, OR to Lewiston, ID. Ken has had opportunity to see whale behavior as well as many other marine life on the Pacific Ocean from Kodiak Alaska all the way down to the Sea of Cortez in Mexico and on the Atlantic Ocean. He has seen Humpback Whales “bubble net feeding” in Alaska and scratched the heads of curious Gray Whale calves in Mexico One of Ken’s greatest passions is to share his experience with others and now he is able to do just that by taking you out to meet the whales in their natural environment. He is a certified Naturalist and loves to share what he has learned, with you on the tour.

Capt Carli is as down to earth and real as it gets! We made our way to the boat and he could have not been any more excited to welcome us and get us on our way! We chose Capt Carli after researching and reading trip advisor reviews so I felt it necessary to report on our experience! Of course we always hope to see whales and they seem to be as unpredictable as humans...lol, so our attitude going is was it will be a great day out on the water whales or no whales. When we departed Capt Carli was on a mission to get us to the whales and traveling an hour to get there did not stop his determination. We arrived at our destination and he said start looking and before you know it on every direction of our boat where Orcas! I have never and probably will never see anything like it again in my lifetime! Simply amazing! We determined there had to be 40+ whales know as the j-pod! Adults...babies...incredible and some of them got real playful and were breaching out of the water! I highly recommend this excursion and with out a doubt.....CAPTIAN CARLI(Bill) is your man! Thoroughly enjoyed his knowledge of the islands and willingness to FIND THE WHALES! Lastly, he limits his passengers to 6 so it makes the trip even more enjoyable!

the small boat is great because only 6 people can go at a time. there were 4 in our group and we saw a pod of 5 orcas with a baby breaching out of the water.my 6 year old loves killer whales and this was great for her to experience!

We have traveled to the San Juans before, and we did not want to be on a large boat, so we chose Captain Carli's "Whale Watching Marine Ecotourism" with his his boat "Soulmate".. Capt. Bill Carli met us on time at 10:30 A.M, there were only two others going with us, so we had room to spare. (He takes a max of six passengers per trip, two trips a day usually. It took about an hour to find the whales, then we were in a barrage of boats, most following the rules, as did Capt. Carli, to stay 200 yards away from the swimming pod. There was a small surface chop so a photographer wants to take pictures with a high enough ASA or ISO rating and a high enough speed to stop the very quick action. We were out for a total of almost 3 3/4 hours, very well worthwhile! Capt. Carli gives a quick but thorough safety briefing and out we went. Capt. Carli does his best to keep his boat in the forefront of the mix of the boats so you can see the Orcas in action. He is responsible, competent, friendly and knowledgeable. If he has the time, he can and will fill you in on all of the local data regarding whales. The day we were there we saw the "visiting" pod, not one of the local pods. The visitors are carnivores compared to the local pods who subsist on fishl

We thoroughly enjoyed today's outing on the sturdy and comfortable "Soulmate" -- maximum six people and hours out among the San Juan Islands. We saw seals and seal pups, eagles, big-horn sheep and a minke whale amongst the scenic flora/fauna in this exotically rugged environment. Capt. Carli was easy to be with, sincere, and very knowledgable, even down to his restaurant recommendation.

Our group of six including 2 young kids received a personal tour of the harbor and nature's sights: seals, sea lions, whales, bald eagles. Captain Carli's boat gives great views from inside or out. I'd highly recommend if you want a great day on the water in addition to great sights.
