Our second evening in Friday Harbor, we made a 5:30pm dinner reservation at Coho near Ferry Landing Suites where we were staying three nights. We'd read that it's known for its island grown fresh dishes, artfully combining Pacific cuisine with international influences...set for 5:30pm, so that we could take advantage of their Chef’s Tasting Special (appetizer, entree and dessert for only $35 per person). An intimate setting (no more than eight tables), gracious service and such remarkable food -- a dab of salmon mousse on a thin circle of cucumber and topped with a bit of dill ("gift" from the chef), tasty little seed-sprinkled pumpkin rolls, black and white sesame seed encrusted salmon with ginger sauce and a grilled rice cake and sautéed vegetables (embellished with a blue flower, which I ate), lovely crème brulee. Gastronomically Coho was the best of the Northwest for us of the 17 restaurants we patronized in nine days.
