Hilton Palacio del Rio

While this particular Hilton property is nice, I don't think I would choose it again. The inside is lovely and very photogenic. Our room was nice, complete with a small balcony overlooking the city and part of the Riverwalk. Some unfortunate things were having to park several blocks away and pay almost $30 for overnight (which is not really unusual for San Antonio, but I've paid less for overnight parking), and no complimentary breakfast in spite of a steep room rate. Basically, there was just nothing exemplary about this hotel except maybe the elevator system. It was very efficient and unlike any I'd seen in any other hotel. However, I'm not willing to pay over $200 a night for a really cool elevator.

I thoroughly my stay this weekend. It was easy to find and Lindsey, front desk assistant, was very helpful and knowledgeable. Kudos to great service! There was some construction in the main lobby but it wasn't too much of a disturbance. Also, the River Edge restaurant had great breakfast and a great view of the Riverwalk (awesome access as well).

Excellent location and despite the ugly exterior has very well appointed and stylish rooms with balconies that have a great view of the city or the Riverwalk. The elevator system is the best anywhere and super fast. Service at the front desk is efficient. The hotel bar is tiny and Durty Nelly's is really a dump compared to the rest of the hotel - I'm surprised they don't have better bar facilities. The major downside is the noise - there's little insulation so if you get party neighbors at 3am, prepared to be woken up (which I've now had on both stays). Still at a Hotwire rate of $100/night, this is still a good place to stay.

Room Tip: A lower level room with a Riverwalk view would be my preference.

Thank you for staying with us recently and taking the time to tell us about your stay. I am glad you enjoyed our recently renovated rooms and upgraded elevator system. You will be pleased to know the hotel exterior will be painted this summer, as well. I am sorry you were not impressed with Durty Nelly's and hopefully next time you have a chance to enjoy our Rincon Allegre Lobby Bar or Tex's Riverwalk Sports Bar. We are currently investigating your noise concerns and apologize that it disturbed your evenings. We look forward to welcoming you back the next time you visit San Antonio.

This was a great hotel, the room was beautiful with a view of the Riverwalk. The staff was excellent. The AC was not working properly when we arrived but was quickly taken care of. Access to the Riverwalk is great. I live here in San Antonio and went downtown for the weekend for my fiancee's birthday and this Hotel was the perfect choice!!!

The Hilton Palacio del Rio has potential, but comes short of other Hilton properties we have enjoyed. It's location is central to the River Walk and two blocks from the Alamo. The staff is friendly and the rooms have a modern motif. We have stayed here several times due to its location to the convention center and River Walk. The rooms are modern and the location of the room is paramount to your experience. The rooms along the River Walk are quiet and picuresque. The rooms to the street overlooking the convention center are noisy from the traffic. The pool is outside and non-descript with the personality of a parking lot with watering hole in the middle. They do have a restaurant along the River Walk that is disappointing because it could be much more. Newspapers (USA Today & WSJ) are available at the Bell station downstairs. The will deliver if called. The louge is nice with nightly music at Happy Hour. The are connected to an Irish bar infamously know as Durty Nellie's, so the pianist is good, but sometimes disinterested. We have visited this hotel the past five years and they are under a renovation that will include a Starbucks with the typical gift shop. For business, this hotel will do. But it could be so much more.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the River Walk

Great hotel and the river views made the stay great. Room was very clean and comfortable, the decor was excellent. Staff were excellent and helped with all our needs, we would highly reccomend this location for its great location and outstanding service.

Room Tip: Stay on the river view side!

The hotel room was very nice; bed extremely comfortable, bathroom was nicely modernized and had all the necessary toiletries. The business center is nothing more than an in-hotel UPS store that charges (overcharges) for everything. Room Internet was only $10, so if you are staying there I wouldn't recommend even bothering with the business center. The bar service was very slow due to Fiesta, but the server was very nice. We saw two tables walk out while we were there because they weren't getting served. All in all, I thought the room was a little pricey for what it delivered.

Thank you for spending Fiesta with us and taking the time to write a review. I am glad you enjoyed the accommodations. I am sorry you felt the UPS Store was overpriced and we will share your comments with the staff as they consider future pricing. We will also evaluate our staffing levels during Fiesta week to ensure we are always delivering the best (and speedy) service. Thak you again for your feedback.
