“Nice stay at the Hilton”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

We stayed at the Hilton while attending a business conference at the Convention Center. This hotel was very nice. Our room was on the 20 floor on the city side (we requested a river view but there were none available). It was clean, very quiet and comfortable. I like the new elevator keypad technology. With few exceptions, we had an elevator car that went directly to our floor rather than stopping on several floors along the way. Staff were friendly, especially the valet attendants. It is conveniently located on the River Walk and near the convention center. I would definitely stay here again without hesitation.

Room Tip: Although we were on the city side, our room on the 20th floor was nice and quiet.

Arrived at 8:00 pm on Friday Nov. 2. From the parking attendants to the front desk & all throughout the hotel the staff were absolutely great. The room was quiet & well equipped. The bed & pillows were just right. It is situated on the river walk, so it was easy to have a nice walk & then have a nice dinner at one of the many restaurants along the river walk. The next morning I called the bell station and within 20 minutes my car was waiting for me out front. No complaints.

Room Tip: Parking is a challenge, so valet park. A little steep but worth it.

Once again just a quick business trip but what a terrific hotel room and staff. The location is right on the riverwalk and the resturants on the riverwalk stay open late into the evening so if you arrive late like we did, you can still get a great steak dinner. I felt completely safe exploring the riverwalk. The room had a balcony and although it wasn't a great view, it would be very appreciated by a smoker--which I wasn't but used to be. A couple of chairs and table were provided outside. King Deluxe room was stunning and comfortable--absolutely perfect for the price. Staff were lovely and helpful and completely unassuming. Trip from the airport didn't take long; I think the taxi ride was about $35 for two of us.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony facing the riverwalk

This hotel is very well placed for visiting San Antonio. The hotel is very nice and our room was spacious and comfortable with a great shower. I thought the valet parking as USD39.00 per night was a little steep. One downside was, we were on the city side of the hotel, and it was very noisy with traffic noise, trains etc all night so we did not sleep that well. Even though the staff were great and the room was good and it was good value for money, because of the noise I am not sure we would stay here again.

The first thing I noticed was just how friendly the staff here are. Next, the location - perfect for the convention centre just across the road, right by the river walk and very close to the city centre. Many attractions of the city are within walking distance.

The rooms are comfortable and well-equipped but the motion-sensitive light in the wardrobe by the door drove me to distraction. I couldn't work out whether it could be overridden, but every slight movement at the desk, or even a draft from the (powerful) air conditioning seemed to turn the light on, with an intrusive click.

The air conditioning was effective (surprising how warm San Antonio is in November, especially when visiting from the UK), but it blasted a draft of cold air right onto the bed and made things a little chilly.

However, overall, this was a very pleasant stay and I would be very happy to stay here again.

This was my first visit to San Antonio, and I am impressed with the place - seems to be on more of a human scale than many American cities - certainly felt friendly and unthreatening and the selection of restaurants and shops was also very good - the market square (El Mercado) and La Villita were fun places to go. Day of the Dead parades on 3 November were fun to see too.

Room Tip: High floors have good views, but front of hotel (city view) can be a little noisy - traffic and the...

Really nice with a great location a few blocks from the Alamo and right on the Riverwalk within walking distance of all the shops and eating places. It is great location for a conference ... went there on a three night stay for a class reunion. The room (2 double beds) seemed small for the price we paid, but it was clean with all the necessary amenities provided. I was disappointed in the detached parking garage which was a short walk from the hotel, so I would recommend valet parking to avoid walking through the streets of downtown San Antonio with your bags in tow. However, I guess this may be the norm for a large downtown hotel in a city the size of San Antonio. Overall, a nice stay.

My husband and I stayed here October 27 - 30th. The location was perfect to watch the coffin parade on the river and the zombie walk on the street. We had a river view room on the corner so we were able to see the river right in front of the hotel as well as the portion to the right of it. One of the departure locations for the riverboat tours is across the river from the hotel so that was convenient.

The nicer two of the four onsite restaurants were closed during our stay but we had drinks at both the sports bar and the Irish pub. It was nice to have a place for a drink on the river that was right at our hotel.

We were in room 1430, a king river view room.
The pros:
It was newly remodeled with nice decor.
The balcony was large enough for two chairs and an end table with room to move around them.
There was an empty wine fridge in the room that was great for bottles of water, leftovers, etc.

The cons:
The bathroom and the closet share one sliding door so either the closet or the bathroom is closed off at once.
There was a super annoying motion sensor that turned on the bathroom light. We tried to dismantle this but couldn't.
There is no concierge and the guest services staff weren't aware of local events.

I had read comments about the noise and we didn't find it to be a problem at all, but we are night owls and didn't get back to the room until midnight or so each night. By then, any music was done for the evening. I'd absolutely stay here again.
