This hotel is a bit dated, but that's probably why it's a bargain and they are updating the rooms (hopefully they are not updating their prices). The location on the river is prime. On the river side of the hotel you can see activity at the Arneson River Theater and La Villita and you be just about anywhere downtown with a short walk.

If you're looking for flawless luxury and don't care about price, this isn't your place, but it's a nice compromise that can save you money and give you a bit of the nostalgia from the time when it was built for the '68 World's Fair.

This hotel is right across the street from the convention center and if your company has booked an event there and all you are paying for is parking...then fine. I stayed in a room on the 11th floor. It was very dated looking. Normally this room is around $289. There are sooo many nicer hotels for that price on the Riverwalk. They are remodeling the rooms, when I checked in they had finished the top floor to floor 15. The remodel looks very nice and the room size is also very good. The bathrooms were small and only one sink.. A plus is there is a small frig in the room. The river facing rooms have a small balcony but is usually too hot to sit unless its March-April or Nov. If you are on the end of the hotel over the Arnesan Theatre...you will hear the music. The pool is being renovated, ck the website.

Room Tip: If you can, get a remodeled room.

I stayed here with 3 other colleagues for a convention in August 2011. The hotel is a two minute walk to the convention center and is right on the River Walk. The hotel is undergoing renovations at this time, but I was never disturbed by them once.

I stayed in a renovated room and it is was very nice. Clean, modern, and comfortable.

Everyone that worked for the hotel was very nice and accommodating while we were there. Special shout out to Luis in the Hotel Lobby Bar who stayed open for us even when we were the only ones in the bar. If I could rate him alone, he is a 10 star bartender and representative of Texas.

My only complaint is that the pool is a bit small, but I still went in and was fine.

I would absolutely stay at again if I am deep in the heart of Texas again.

Room Tip: You can get a room overlooking River Walk, but it does not make or break room. All have good views.

This is our second stay in three years and this time was even better than the last.

SERVICE: Everyone you interact with is exceptionally friendly and helpful. Upon check-in (two hours early), we were given a newly renovated room. At check-out, the same person that collected our checked bags got us a cab that was as nice as any personal car service I have had.

ROOMS: The new rooms are much more contemporary than the older (but, still nice) more traditional rooms. Getting closer to W-style, but still retain some southwest influence thru the room art. Comfortable beds and private balconies are the big differentiators.

AMENITIES: The 5th floor pool is a little small, but there cannot be a better people watching spot in SA. The corner of Alamo and Market with a view of the Riverwalk - all from your lounger. The pool will be renovated beginning October. The gym had treadmills, ellipticals (3-4 of each) and free weights.

RESTAURANTS: Expect $12 cocktails at the Lobby Bar - standard fare for a hotel. If you are a HiltonHonors member, you get 25% off everywhere connected to the hotel. We had Ibiza for breakfast. Quick service for such a busy place. The buffet is fresh and hot and the omelette station had over 20 ingredients. Very attentive service.

I will stay here again and hope the prices don't jump too much once this place is completely redone. Cannot beat the location and service already - and if you get a new room, I'd challenge you to find a better value in SA.

Room Tip: Renovating rooms from the top down - were down to the 15th floor as of this review

I recently traveled here for the weekend and got this hotel from priceline's name your own price. We got it for $95 a night, which is probably about, if not a little less, than what it is worth. I definitely would not pay $150/night for the hotel. As others have noted, the rooms are outdated. It always strikes me as odd the renovations hotels decide to do on the rooms. There was a nice granite counter top on the vanity outside the bathroom, but the bathroom itself looked almost like a motel bathroom.

The location was great though. Right on the riverwalk close to a lot of fun places. Only a few blocks from the Alamo. I would stay here again if I got a good price.

Room Tip: Try priceline

We got a great deal on Priceline for this hotel. The outside of the building is very 60s, it looks like something right out of an old Las Vegas movie. The inside is nice and the rooms clean and comfortable. The location right on the Riverwalk is great. The only issue is that it's outdated, and who cares if you are there for sightseeing?
