I travelled for work and stayed two nights at the Marriott. As it is near the riverwalk, you should expect fees that you may not see at other Marriott hotels. This is not uncommon for popular destinations, and not outrageous, just be aware if you have not been in this area before.
I had been up since about 4 am and was checking in after 6 pm, so I was beyond exhausted, I will say the hotel had several people waiting to check people in and was one of my best check in experiences.
Got a great room and it was clean and comfy. Lots of business travelers, but some tourists in the hotel, but I ended up being near more business people and it was quiet at night.
The front had several recommendations for dinner.
The second night, a group of us decided to eat at the hotel, their main restaurant was not open, however, you could order full menu in the bar. Only downside, not really tables available, more conducive for drinks only, not real food.
The exercise room was nice, several of us working out in the morning and plenty of treadmills for use.

Beautiful hotel staffed with very friendly folks. Good value for the price. San Antonio charm, great food steps away, Mariachi music along the river. OK, so San Antonio is warm, no hot, in August, but lots of air conditioned restaurants, taverns available and outdoor seating available if early or late enough to be cool. During the fall, winter and spring, it can't be beat. Also close to the missions. With a (rental) car, one can head north to the Hill Country. Delightful sights abound there. Even real cowboys.

I had an opportunity to stay at the Marriott Rivercenter as part of a convention. The check in was fast and friendly. The room was very comfortable with the proper amenities you can expect these days. The bar was always hopping and the drink prices were reasonable. Take advantage of the valet parking, although ample parking is available in the garage area. My only frustration is the lack of elevators. There are only 4 elevators that go up and down all 30 floors, and with a convention of attendees, it can be upwards of 30 minutes to get on an elevator during the peak times.

Room Tip: Rooms on the 30th floor (top floor) do not have an exterior balcony. If you want that extra special...

One judgment for a hotel is how they fix a problem. Our visit started badly: the desk clerk did not react to an upgrade request and the hallway smelled of cigarette smoke. The bellman opined that it cost someone $100, but he did not offer to share it with us. Both problems were taken care of the next day. This is a very good convention hotel -- good banquet and breakout rooms with good food and service. A good lobby bar with attentive service. The concierge lounge was open for more hours than usual for a Marriott, and had good food and drink. The hotel room had good lighting and a comfortable large desk to work on. The air conditioning system is drafty, but some adjustment of the louvers helped. The hotel location is superior. It connects to the Riverwalk through a picturesque entrance and the lobby connects to a shopping center. It is a pleasant walk (or water taxi ride) to restaurants, shops and sightseeing associated with the Riverwalk. The Alamo and the Tower of the Americas are within walking distance. Overall a very good hotel for the visitor and a conventioneer.

This hotel is in a great location on the Riverwalk in San Antonio. The hotel is well appointed with helpful service, clean rooms, and nice amenities on hand. The hotel is also right next door to the Rivercenter Mall with shopping, restaurants and movies. It's just around the corner from the Alamo. And it's just a few steps down to the Riverwalk for more great restaurants. Highly recommend.

My husband and I spent three nights here for our 19th wedding anniversary. We arrived early; however, we were able to check right in. We booked a king suite and the room was very clean and nicely decorated; it looked just like the pictures on the hotel website. Housekeeping did a good job of cleaning the suite each day.

We also had access to the lounge. The lounge was nice, but the breakfast didn't taste very well.

They also have a nice gym with several treadmills, weight machines and free weights. There is also a guest laundry facility.

The location of this hotel is prime. We didn't rent a car and found that we didn't need one as we were able to walk to nice restaurants and attractions along the riverwalk. I would stay at this hotel the next time that I visit San Antonio.

We look forward to serving as your host on your return visit to San Antonio.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel this august from Thursday to Sunday, I have to say that we have an awesome and enjoyable stay at this property. Since we arrived front desk staff (don´t remembered her name, but was at Thursday august 15 2013 about 9:00 pm shift) was really polite and nice with us assigning an upper floor at our request, and answering all of our questions. Spectacular room at 34 floor at one of the corners of the hotel well maintained and really clean at all the days of our stay, peaceful and quiet all day, amazing view of San Antonio (I think we were in a children free floor, I don´t know if there´s so); Clean smell and quit corridors with well maintained carpet, Fast elevators so you don´t have to wait long time.Friendly and helpful staff at all time specifically bell boys, bell boy manager and front desk staff.
Great hotel location at downtown San Antonio and side to River Center Mall (I really recommend to visit the Hemisfair Park and the River Walk near the hotel), although far from other big malls, but they have a lot of ground transportation options. I have to say that their pool facility was all day crowded with kids, but we were there for shopping and site seeing not to swim. Fast and friendly check out, I recommend check out at the your room TV system, by the way nice selection of TV channels. We did not try the restaurants but we saw the prices and there were a little bit expensive for what they have to offer. I will recommend this Marriott property to all my friends, clients and family for their future stay.

THANK YOU MARRIOTT RIVER CENTER FOR MAKING OUR VACATIONS REALLY NICE AND ENJOYABLE, WE WILL RETURN.

Room Tip: Ask for an upper floor room and those at the corners of the hotel, you won´t regret it.
