“Terrible room, poor service, expensive internet.”
Reviewed January 24, 2013

The room on the fifth floor had no view whatsoever. The beds had too many pillows and was too soft. We had a backache every night. The supplies in the room were skimpy. The towels were thin and poor quality. It took a long time to check in because they could not find a room for us despite a reservation six months in advance and an arrival at about 6:30 PM.

The meals were expensive and poor quality. Fortunately, it is next to a mall with lots of better and more reasonably priced food. Worst major hotel I have stayed in in San Antonio.

Room Tip: Views on lower floors are abysmal.

I stayed at this hotel for convenience, it's located close to the highway and right on the river walk. The hotel is clean and decor is good. The rooms had all amenities, but square footage was tight. The bathroom was ok, nice toiletries from bath and body works! Checking in and out very simple. Parking is $25 daily rate ! There is Starbucks located in the lobby and the hotel adjoins the mall so very easy access.
I was surprised there was no refrigerator in the room. Free wifi in lobby but daily rate $12.95

When you are a business traveler you know what to expect from a Marriott. Dated rooms; almost threadbare towels; concierge lounge with bare minimum food/beverage service; run-down furniture in rooms; no frig or mini-bar. This location fits the bill. I can't believe so many people gave it a "5".

On the plus side most of the personnel are very nice and helpful. The location is good adjacent to the mall, Riverwalk, convention center, etc. Elevators, as others have noted, can be excruciatingly slow. Housekeeping can be spotty. It is a typical Marriott experience.

This hotel is absolutely amazing. The location of the Marriott Rivercentre is ideal - perfectly connected to the Rivercentre mall and there is a path directly to the Riverwalk. Also, the Starbucks downstairs is very convenient. Staff are very polite and helpful, and the room was spotless and boasted a fantastic view over the city. Amazing.

Stay here fairly often but this stay was quite different. This time I was right next to the service elevator above the 28th Floor (and it may be the same for lower floors). The 23rd room on the upper floors should be avoided at all costs.

Though you don't notice during the day, the hotel staff uses their service elevators all hours - especially between 12am & 5am. If you stay in these rooms you will not sleep well. I spent three nights and never slept for more than one hour at a time. I like the hotel, but again these rooms are loud with elevator noises (and I'm a heavy sleeper). It's much louder than staying next to the guest elevators - which I don't mind.

Don't choose a different hotel, just make sure you don't get stuck next to the staff elevators. Bar is good. Restaurant is good. Starbucks is good amd overall the hotel is good. Just a word of friendly advice.

Like many of the other recent reviews, I found this hotel doing everything right. The rooms, meeting rooms, lobby, fitness center, and restaurants were spotless. The staff were friendly and professional. It isn't located directly on the "main" river walk but more of a spur. Many, many non-hotel river walk restaurants are within easy walking distance.

From the friendly, welcoming staff at the front door and the front desk to the immaculately clean rooms, our stay at this hotel was excellent. We were there for a conference and the wi-fi connection everywhere was very good. The rooms are a bit on the smaller side, but they are very nicely appointed and besides, it's San Antonio - there's so much to see and do, you probably won't be in the room much anyway. We definitely will stay again and would recommend it to others.
