As with other reviewers, I appreciated the helpful staff from the front desk to housekeeping. I was there for a conference for 5 days and this was a great location, providing convenient access to restaurants and other activities after long day sessions. The conference food service was great as well. We had breaks and one lunch (the grilled chicken was excellent) provided by the hotel catering service, and a step was not missed with such a large crowd. The room was nicely appointed, and the free wi-fi access in the lobby was handy (extra cost in the room). Recommend the Maria Mia restaurant (exit hotel at riverwalk, down the steps and you're there) for anyone, and their takeout meals are just as delicious, enough for two, and reasonably priced. The mall with it's Food Court is available, and you can even catch a visit to the Alamo after meetings are concluded. Recommend a boat ride which was fun and cheap, but ask for discounts such as military and senior citizen's. Appreciate the hotel providing taxi estimatefor trip from airport on its website. My cab driver quoted more, but when I told him that wasn't the estimate I got, he took me the most expedient route, and it was right in the range of the estimate, rather than 8-10 dollars more as he had quoted. He wasn't as friendly after that, but I saved!

Room Tip: If you are there for a large conference, choose your floor with the elevator traffic in mind. I was...

I rarely write reviews but since the staff at Marriott Rivercenter blew me away I thought it was time. I went with a girlfriend for an easy out of town getaway. Just wanted to sit by the pool with no agenda. What could have been just an ordinary hotel stay was made incredible by all the staff at Marriott Rivercenter. They really understood and delivered exceptional customer service. They were at 90% capacity but really went out of our way, remembering our names, drink orders and reason for staying despite the hectic atmosphere. Willis from the bell station, Felipe from the pool bar and all the bar tenders at The Bar were just phenomenal. Their restaurant manager James really went out of his was and for all their great attitudes I wanted to write a review, turning an ordinary trip into a great resort experience. (Though hotel is not a resort) Hotel was clean, rooms were comforable and the pool was a nice rooftop experience. Food was unexpectadly great.

We arrived and were well treated by the Bellmen. When I went to check in I was told I didn't have a reservation which was alarming. I always carry my confirmation and gave it to the desk clerk and was assigned a room. The room was pretty clean except for a dirty sock and a speeding ticket on the floor from a previous occupant. The problem with the room was it's size. This was a king bed room and had a desk, desk chair and a padded chair. The Padded chair was within 12 inches of the bed which made it a hazard when getting up during the night. As a result I moved it. For the price we paid we expected a little more.

Room Tip: Check the room before you unload you baggage.

The staff of the Marriott Rivercenter are wonderful. I stayed there six days as part of a conference and had a chance to interact with many of their employees. From the room service to the front desk to housekeeping, everyone was extremely helpful. The facility was beautiful and the fitness center / indoor pool were fantastic.

Room Tip: I was on the top floor and had a great view of the tower/revolving restaurant.

This hotel was centrally located and had excellent amenities. The convention facilities and catering was exceeded my expectations. The only negative experience was the bed, they were extremly uncomfortable.

Nice hotel and wonderful location.. Only bad thing about it was the check-in staff...Rude...Rude...Rude.....Will NEVER stay there again. Loved that the Riverwalk was just outside the door and the Mall. Rooms were nice; but weird shaped. Housekeeping was wonderful and very friendly.

I had a five night stay at the Marriot Rivercentre in August for a conference. The hotel easily meets its 4 star standard and likely won't disappoint.

My late evening check-in had problems. I had reserved a king sized bed and called the hotel to advise them of my late check-in time. When I arrived, the front desk agent told me that there were no king sized beds left. They were willing to move me the next day and had me relocated by 10 a.m. to the room I would stay in for the duration of the trip.

As for the room, it was ideal for a business stay, though rather corporate contemporary bland. The bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows. The room air conditioning was perfect --discreet and kept the room at an even temperature. Shower pressure was adequate and there were basic Bath and Body Works toiletries. The mini refridgerator kept beverages at a frosty temperature. In room wi-fi and wired internet was strong, although you pay for the access.

Beyond the room, most hotel amenities were fine. The gym offers a respectable workout.
The concierge and bell desk were excellent, however. Orlando, the head concierge, helped easily with all sorts of local recommendations such as shopping, car rental, and even where to find a place for cheap beer. The bell desk and valet parking service was attentive. The hotel lounge bartenders were also attentive and mixed good, strong drinks. As for the remaining hotel amenities, I never ordered from room service so cannot comment on the quality. For my conference, the breakfast and mid afternoon food options were hit and miss. Some of their baked breakfast offerings were fresh but others seemed stale. Afternoon break out food options were fine. The restaurant at the hotel's Riverwalk level, Maria Mia, serves decent Mexican food and service was attentive.

As other reviewers have stated, the hotel is near the Alamo, at the end of the Riverwalk and beside Rivercenter Mall. The Alamo is less than a five minute walk away and the Buckhorn Saloon and other road level tourist traps are aplenty. The Rivercenter Mall has a perfunctory food court for budget dining and the stores are hit and miss. The main restaurant hub on the Riverwalk is a leisurely five minute walk. There is a CVS store near the main restaurant area for basic amenities purchases.

For transport, taxi from the San Antonio airport was under $30 in non-rush hour traffic. The Rio river taxi stops right at the mall and the Rio river cruise kiosk is on the other side of the Maria Mia restaurant. Valet parking at the hotel is $33/day but the concierge desk will recommend a cheaper surface parking lot nearby. There is a Hertz car rental kiosk in the hotel. Enterprise and Avis are also nearby. The hotel is a short exit away from the 281/37 routes and it is very easy to get out of the downtown core.
