We were in SA the weekend for the George Strait show. Unfortunately, when I booked our hotel, the Westin was all booked up. We had to Choose the Hyatt on Losoya. We arrived to the Hyatt on Friday. The staff was nice enough. The room was SUB PAR at best. Hair in the shower, funny smell. There was a LOUD dog on our floor who barked most of the early evening (maybe he was lonely for his family). Kids ran up and down the hall screaming. I love kids and dogs, but the walls were so thin it sounded like they were in the room with us. Around 2:15 AM, some drunk guy was on a rant in the hallway. This in turn got the dog riled up. It sounded like people were going into the hall to see what the hell was going on. I called security. I like a few drinks too, but this was a circus. I have no idea if they ever came up or not. About every 2 hours, someone else would be disorderly in the hall yelling (drunks). By 7am, I was livid. I got online, found a room was available at the Westin. I called there to confirm. I spoke to a wonderful helpful lady named Danielle. I explained the situation, that we needed a room. We had to check in at the concert at 3pm, and the Westin's check in is 3pm. Danielle told us to come over right away, they could accomodate us. She was very apologetic about our bad night at the Hyatt. This was ironic, because NO ONE at the Hyatt had been sorry at all. We booked the room, packed our stuff and got to the front desk of the HYATT. I had made sure that we would not get some random fee for leaving early. They assured me they would waive the "Early departure fee". No one ever apologized, asked if they could smooth things over. The best they could do was for us to come down around noon to SEE if they could find a room on another floor. However, she said we might get there at noon, and they would be unable to accomodate a change. "We are very busy due to the concert." At the front desk, The guy who checked me out said "So everything was fine except the little noise last night? I said "It was way more than a little noise. Plus, there was hair in the shower and a funny smell." He NEVER APOLOGIZED FOR EITHER OF THOSE THINGS. NEVER ASKED FOR MORE INFO ABOUT THOSE COMPLAINTS. Then he said "Yes, it is probably better that you are leaving. With the concert tonight, it will be much worse. Maybe next time you come, there will not be a show going on." We left there ASAP, went to the Westin. It was probably about 8-8:30 am at this time. Matt checked us in. He was super friendly, and super accomodating. We briefly told him how we came to be there so early. Again, he was very apologetic for our bad luck. He scanned the roster, and found us a room we could go to right away. As usual, we had a great room. The staff was wonderful. On a side note, there were A LOT of people there at the Westin for the George Strait show. We were not awakened ONCE during the night. The walls must be thicker there or something. Keep up the great work, Westin. We will see you next trip. The Hyatt staff needs to be inserviced in customer service.

Room Tip: Hopefully you are not a light sleeper. THIN WALLS!

We picked this hotel for its location on the Riverwalk and near to the Alamo, and we can't fault it on that basis. However, we expected more from a Hyatt. Basically this place serves a conference crowd and tourists feel like an afterthought.

Service was ok but room had a vague small of mould. Room wasn't cleaned one day despite fact we were out of it from late morning. In room safe was erratic (battery issues?), water in the room cost $6/litre (same bottle was $2.30 in store two minutes walk away), tv cut out twice, in room wifi not free.

No room service past midnight was also a surprise given the opportunities for late night drinking/partying nearby.

Finally...the elevators. Poor lighting made it a challenge to swipe your room card. The doors regularly tried to shut on people. They need serviced! But the worst part was the odd design whereby you had to switch to a different 2-stop elevator to get to the Riverwalk level while the was no stairs as an alternative. It gets tiresome after a while.

Stayed here while attending a conference at the conference center. There are three different Hyatts in this general area, so don't get confused. The River runs through the lower level of this particular one. It's about a 10-15 minute walk to the convention center depending on whether you take the high road or the riverwalk. And you can walk to almost all of the major tourist attractions. It's a typical Hyatt. Great rooms, great service. A little weird to navigate due to the riverwalk entrance and lobby entrance and two different sets of elevators. I would say this a great place to stay for business travelers and adults, but it's not a family vacation kind of place. The rooftop pool is fairly small, and I saw a couple of little boys who were pretty disappointed that there was really no room to play. When walking at street level, I tried to avoid the section of Losoya Street that is by Pat O'Brien's because it smells like a vomitorium. Parking was $25 a night at the garage across the street. My pet peeve about these types of hotels is that you are paying a lot of money to stay there, and they don't provide free wifi in your room - only in public areas. Boo!

Stayed recently for a conference. Conference center was within walking distance, used the Riverwalk walk back and forth.

Room was on the 11th floor, and on the opposite side of the hotel away from the fitness center/pool. While the higher levels give you better views, stay away from the pool/fitness center side of floor 11. Also be wary of rooms that open into the interior of the hotel. If you get one of these, keep your curtains closed, or everyone inside the hotel riding the glass elevators will see your business. Could also be loud depending on noise level at bar/restaurant.

Room was a decent size, and nice full length windows to enjoy the view. Some issues that we had on our stay, the tv remote was 'buggy' and didn't always work, not to mention the phones in the room didn't work either. Anytime we wanted something we had to go downstairs to ask, as they never got fixed during our stay.

The fitness center has plenty of things to use. Yoga mats, ellipticals, treadmills, bikes, free weights, and even a nice variety of weight machines. Cold towels and water as well. Wish all hotel centers were like this one. Pool deck was small, pool itself tiny.

Lots of little quirks, here and there, to prevent me from giving this a 5/5 but a nice hotel to stay in, and then use the Riverwalk to walk to and from everything else.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms on 11th Floor by the pool/fitness center side of the building.

Excellent location by the river walk and within walking distance to convention centre. Checking in/out was hassle free. Beds are comfortable providing a great night sleep after a 24 transit. Have no problem recommending this hotel and would come again.

Nice hotel and amenities. Hotel staff were relatively friendly, but not particularly outgoing. Rooms were comfortable and clean, but not overly fancy. The lobby with the river running through was great.
The real star of the hotel is the location. If you walk out the "front" of the hotel, you are a block from the Alamo and many family friendly attractions. From the back of the hotel, you are directly on the river walk and all the great attractions it offers.
The Hyatt Regency is basically in the middle of of the heart of the river walk and you couldn't choose a much more convenient location.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to visit the river walk

We did a fair bit of reading and mulling before choosing this hotel. I am not sure what tipped the scales in the end but I am glad we came here. The location is ideal, the views pleasing and the staff goes out of their way to be helpful. Get a Riverwalk view if you can, the higher floors have a nice vantage point. The room is attractive, very clean, and well laid out.

The two hotel bars are terrific. Tequila lovers should spend some time in The Worm (it was the best Margherita I had ever had). The acoustic music out on the Riverwalk is a nice addition to an early Saturday evening. The food at the Worm comes from next door (not from the Hyatt) and was not as tasty as the snacks we had at the lobby bar. Located beside Q restaurant, the food and beverage quality is far higher at the lobby bar than pretty much any other similar hotel I have tried. Stop for happy hour and get a $2 brisket taco. The view is pretty great too. Service in all of the establishments was very good.

The rooftop pool is nothing to get excited about - small and not surprisingly full of children. The view isn't leveraged at all and that was a disappointment.

Parking is extra and located across the street. It was a bit of a hassle when we arrived as we were not allowed to leave the car in the driveway for even a few minutes during the check in period. Valet parking is available for an additional charge.
