“Fine for a conference and good location”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 19, 2012

Hotel was huge and no personal feel at all. It was great to be so close to the convention center where our conference was, and two times i took a walk on the river walk which was also close to the hotel. If you are looking for somewhere with a spa and things for the kids, this isn't the place. Try the sister Hyatt down the road which had a much warmer feel when I walked to it one day.

Top notch modern hotel. It is very clean and the rooms are spacious and comfortable with high end linens and beds. Very quiet.

Staff are friendly and helpful as you'd imagine in a hotel of this caliber.

The location is perfect if you are attending conferences as it is adjacent to the conference center. It is on the riverwalk, but not immediately close to the hotspots on the riverwalk.

Parking is in a secure underground garage.

I stayed here for one night in april. The only negative is the 26 dollar overnight parking. But really you can't park anywhere near the riverwalk without paying anyway. This hotel is. Nice and modern. There are many helpful staff members walking around in the lobby checking on customers. The pool is in a great location on the 5th floor. It is suprisingly small (narrow) but still great feel. The room was nice and clean. But really the best part is the location of the hotel. Great stay. Def want to stay here again.

Enjoyed my stay @ the Grand Hyatt. Love the location~on the Riverwalk~lots of restaurants~1 block to Macy's~what more could I need? #1 Very nice staff at Hotel, was upgraded to a nicer room (thanks to my e-standby upgrade) #2 buffet breakfast was good & fast, (it is on lower lever) & #3 our convention went very smoothly. Enjoyed my room service turkey roll...server couldn't have been any more pleasant. On time. Oh, & when you call the hotel....you get to talk to a human~even the wake up calls!

Room Tip: Sign up for the upgrade The elevators are indented, so no noise in rooms.....

Checked in on April 10th and checked out on April 12th for a convention. From the ease of check in,[using one of their automated check in kiosks] to check out ,everything was perfect. The staff are friendly and polite. My room on the 15th floor was well appointed and was kept spotless by housekeeping . The Bar in the lobby is a great place to have a drink and the staff there were very effecient.
The location is perfect for sightseeing on foot. The famous Riverwalk is right on your doorstep where you can choose from several different restaurants and bars to spend your evenings. You feel very safe while out at night as there always seemed to have a Police presence in the area.
The staff in the adjoining convention center were very pleasant and accomodating.
If I go back to San Antonio I would definitely stay there again.

This is a typical business hotel with standard business rooms, nothing special. The staff and location on the other hand make this otherwise 3 star stay better than expected, thus my 4 star rating.
The rooms are small business boxes like you will find at any business and convention hotel. The property is well designed creating less on a walk from the guest rooms to the meeting rooms and the elevators were very fast even with the hotel booked at 100%. I suggest asking for a room on the river side if you want a better view.
The location is not marketed as being directly on the river-walk like the other Hyatt in the area. But, the hotel is actually directly on the river-walk and is better located than most other hotels claiming to be river-walk properties. Bring your tennis shoes and enjopy a beautiful walk each day or evening. No reason to have a car, everything is right there.
Restaurants: there is a mall next door with food court and full of brand restaurants if you are on a budget, and river-walk is full of locals, many are pretty good. Check reviews before you leave home, some are not so good.
It was the staff and the in-hotel restaurant that gained the hotel an extra star. We were staying with a large convention group and he hotel was over-booked. While it looked like we would have problems at check-in starting the trip off on the wrong foot, the staff proved fantastic and understood how to handle Customers properly.
Pinkie Williams one of the managers stepped in and did everything to take care of us and more. It took a bad situation and completely turned it all around. The rest of the trip was made better by her efforts and Customer care. She was supported by Jenica Meador who also deserves an extra pat on the back.
The in-hotel restaurant is located downstairs on the river-walk and has a pleasant patio area feeling like a river cafe/bistro. The pices are reasonable for the area, but again its the satff that made it best. Of the many restaurants we ate at during the trip, this turned out to be our favaorite and we returned a few times. This rarely happens when we are in convention hotels. Ramone and his staff made the hotel restaurant great, and we did not have to wait on long wait lists in the tourist area.
While this is a convetion hotel, its location and service makes it a good place to enjoy the San Antonio area.

Room Tip: Not much of a view in any direction, but the river-walk side is a little better.

The Grand Hyatt San Antonio is very nice - it really has the feeling of an upscale urban business hotel. Check-in is made easier by express check-in kiosks similar to what you'd see at an airport. The lobby is modern and inviting. The restaurant and bar looked very pleasant, though we didn't visit. Taxis are available out front around the clock. Rooms very clean and comfortable - our king bed room had a day-bed type lounge to the side of the bed, a nice alternative to the standard chair.

The location is really perfect though, especially if you are in tour for a quick tourist trip as we were. The hotel itself is on the Riverwalk, and a quick walk takes you right to the heart of things (the main Riverwalk area and of course, the Alamo). There are other hotels that share this location (Marriott across the street, somewhat dated looking Hilton a few blocks away), but the Hyatt definitely looked to be the newest and best in the area. If my travels take me to San Antonio again, I'll choose to stay here.
