“Ridiculously Good”

Can't believe I didn't know about this place until I saw an episode of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives being rerun on the Food Network.

This spot is highly recommended. Located on the north central side of town. Close to North Star Mall and the airport. It's a small joint but I do believe they're expanding.

Everything on the menu sounds great but I can only comment on the:
Fior Di Latte Stracciato and the Fontina pizza.... Mmmm divino!
Their mozzarella is house-made, the dough is heaven, and the atmosphere is quaint. Must stop in and experience it for yourselves. Enjoy!!!

Great wine selection, wonderful pizza! I tried the mozzarella and prosciutto pizza and wasn't disappointed. Service was attentive without being intrusive. For families with young children, they offered a ball of dough to keep them entertained. Will definitely be back.

“I don't get it!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 20, 2012

We ate here on a Saturday night with our three children. The best parts of the meal were the distilled water and the dough for the kids to play with. It was all okay, nothing like what we expected. Seems to be that people really into hydroponically grown vegetables love this place. It wasn't bad, just not the best pizza ever like some reviews suggest.

“Not a "Triple D" restaurant! Perfect atmosphere & food.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 19, 2012

Five of us went here last night to celebrate our 35th anniversary. We have been to Italy and enjoyed the original pizza there very much. Mozzarella that was fresh and tasty along with thin pizza with fresh sauce & ingredients. Well, if that is what you are looking for in San Antonio, then Dough is the place for you. I have read complaints over the price, but we all felt it was worth the price that is charged. My wife and I shared a salad and pizza and it was plenty of food for the two of us. Not sure if the person who made that comment frequents the AUCE buffets or not, but we felt the size of the pizza was great for us.

We even stopped to watch the chef prepare the pizzas and cook them in the oven. We were all surprised to see that it took no more than 90 seconds to cook one of the pizzas and the oven would handle up to 7. He even answered our questions and was very cordial. The staff was very accommodating and helpful.

The only down side to Doughs is the price of wine. True italian wine is inexpensive and very good. If this were offered, I think it would be a "home run" for the restaurant. They would sell more wine which equals more profit. They even have a bartender stationed outside that serves wine while you wait for a seat. Although we waited about 30 minutes for a seat, it was well worth it and the time seemed to go by quickly.

We found this restaurant through Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, and even though we wanted to eat on the Riverwalk, we opted for Dough's partly due to the "Triple D" recommendation, but mostly due to the recommendations here. There are so many good restaurants in San Antonio that I don't believe we will be back to Doughs's in the month that we are here, but are glad we went there for our anniversary dinner.

Eat well.... live long.
