I'm so glad I listened to the reviewers on TripAdvisor and chose this hotel. I traveled for a long weekend with my husband and two children ages 6 and 3. We really liked this place. The lobby is pretty and definitely has the historical look to it without looking old and dingy. It's at a great location on the Riverwalk with it's own river access in the basement and is only a less than 5 minute walk to the action where all the restaurants and shops are.

We had requested a room in the old tower because they are easier to access with two small kids and we preferred the decor over the rooms in the new tower. The only minor complaint I had was that the carpet needed a good cleaning (not only specific to our room but also the room my in-laws stayed in which was right next door to ours). Other than that we were really happy with the room.

Breakfast in the morning was great. Everything tasted good and there was plenty of it. The Manager's reception in the evening had a more limited menu since it was on the weekend, only hot dogs, chili and baked potatoes (I found out the have other selections like chicken strips, eggrolls, and nachos offered Monday thru Thursday). Alcohol at the reception was also limited to a list of mixed drinks, basic wines, and Bud Light. So, we only did the Manager's Reception one night as we felt it wasn't really worth the time if we were going out to dinner anyway. But, it would be good for people wanting to really travel on a budget because you could make a meal out of it.

All the staff we encountered were very friendly. Always asking where you were from and how your trip was going so far.

All in all, I would definitely stay here again because they offer really nice accomodations with free extras and lower priced parking than other hotels on the Riverwalk. I really think the Drury Plaza is the best deal out there for a Riverwalk hotel.

Stopped at the Plaza for 2 nights 5th & 6th July. Arrived and parked using the Valet parking - $20 - this is added to your bill. Very easy to use - just pull into the hotel. You are met and offered a trolley for your cases. Very quick check-in. If paying my credit card - ensure you take photo id. Room was a small suite on the 16th floor. Lots of lifts available for this rather old building that was formally a bank. Nice old decor. Our room had fabulous views and we could see the River Walk area. You enter via a nice wide hall way. Separate bedroom and sitting area. Two TV's - one in each room. And a lovely large bathroom with the normal soap, shampoo etc. As you sit on the toilet - you can look through a great picture window across San Antonio!!!! The room was basically clean - but it did feel a little dark and dusty,
If you stay at this hotel you receive a free breakfast. Between 8 and 9 it got very busy but the queues did move quickly. We had to mention to the staff that both mornings the coffee and ran out of the machine but this was rectified quickly. Breakfast was eggs, sausage, pancakes, American biscuits and gravey (English scones and white sauce!), yoghurts, fruit, bagels, philly cheese, jams etc. A good choice, lots of drinks to choose from. In the afternoon, you can have free drinks and popcorn - smelled lovely!!
You can enter the Riverwalk directly from the hotel - if going in the evening - remember your insect repellent.
The hotel has a roof top swimming pool, but the colour of the water but my teenage daughter off going in - the hot tub was good. Take time to explore the other parts of the hotel as some of the terraces have fabulous views.

I'm from California and I'd never heard of Drury. I so wish they were out here. This was the best Hotel I've stayed. Of course, that's easy to say, having been in a suite with a jacuzzi ( an affordable suite, at that), but what stood out was the tremendous care and service of the staff. Their was no attitude from anyone there, from the desk to the maids. Tremendous people. Maybe it's true about Texans being nice.

The building itself is a fantastic old art deco building known as the Alamo National Building, which served as a bank. The lobby has high ceilings with gold trim. There is a beautiful stained glass window above the entrance with an Alamo and lone star motif. To either side are large art deco scrolls touting thrift and trust. Amazing. There is history all over this building. It can tell the weather, too.

We stayed in the newer section know as the San Fernando Tower, with a beautiful view from the twelfth floor and the river right below us. The hotel, in fact, has its own entrance to the riverwalk, which should not be missed. Exceptional.

Showers were small and the kickback didn't have the food promised (only hot dogs and potatoes...no chicken strips, egg rolls, meatballs, etc.).

Other than that the stay was great. It's around 3 yrs old and converted from a bank. Very fancy feeling and the free perks were well worth the price tag. We booked the wrong night on accident and they were more than willing to accommodate us. Lovely!

This hotel was awesome. My son and I didn't want to leave. The location was great. We had a room with a terrace and could see the river below from the balcony. The room was the largest I've seen. I can't say enough how much we loved this hotel. If we ever go back to San Antonio, we will stay here. My child is already asking to go back.

We stayed 3 nights in July- The service was great and the roof-top pool was awesome... the terrace suites were great! I wish the pool stayed open a little later BUT i am being picky at this point. Would stay there again.
