“A good value and quite nice”
Reviewed August 14, 2013

I was very glad I found this hotel. We wanted to stay on the Riverwalk but not spend too much. The Drury is unique in that it is in a remodeled bank building, so it was architecturally interesting and nicely re-done. It was very safe, with key card access. The value comes mostly from the free "hot" breakfast and the hot snacks and drinks from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. Breakfast was very good (I LOVE eggs and gravy and biscuits!), and the hours were pretty extensive. We only went once to the soiree at 5:30 (I forget what they call it). We had dinner plans both nights and so didn't eat, but we did get a complementary drink. Seemed a little watered-down, but it was okay. Soft drinks available all day, but there was no bar at which to buy alcohol if you wanted it at hours besides 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. That's my only complaint. Nice room, friendly staff, free internet, good location, good price. We stayed two nights.

Room Tip: Our room was on the 21st floor. We didn't have a view, but rooms on the other side did.

Enjoyed my stay at this property. It was definitely different on the positive side. Had a urban feel since it was an old bank in an old town. Kind of seemed like a Manhattan hotel. Stayed in two sections of the hotel. The 1st section was the 'new' tower section. This area had a theme park family feel. Kids being kids in the hallways, had to call the front desk since it was approaching midnight and the kids were still loud in the hallway. All was quiet after the hotel security did a walk though. After a second evening with screaming kids we moved to the original section. It was nice and peaceful with great views of the city especially at night. The 5pm eat and drink event was festive. The eats were edible but better after a few cocktails. The a.m. breakfast was average but a great value for a family. Their was a good selection, but whole milk for cereal was the only option.

Room Tip: The new tower section has a theme park feel, noisy, the original section has a Manhattan feel, more...

My husband and I stayed here for one night in July and we were both very happy we chose this location. Normally when visiting the San Antonio Riverwalk we stay a few blocks away and walk between the Alamo and the Riverwalk and downtown bars. This trip we wanted to stay on the Riverwalk and after researching many other hotels we decided on the one. The location is perfect and it really is ON the Riverwalk. We actually walked right in and made our reservation on the spot. The lady at the front desk was even able to help me find my old GoldKey number that I had not used in years. They have a "kick back" reception in the evening which was really nice. Even though it seemed like every guest took advantage of this, the lines moved quickly and the service was friendly. The evening we were there they had a buffet with chicken strips, nachos, mac and cheese, salad, etc. There is also a self serve soda machine and popcorn machine that seemed to be a big hit with the kids. The three free alcoholic drinks were a big hit with the adults. The lobby is beautiful and the history of this once being an old bank is felt throughout the hotel. The rooms are a little small but ours was very clean. The hall areas do have a little bit of a stuffy smell but how much time to you plan to spend in the hall! Overall I think this hotel is great and we will definately return to this hotel when returning to the San Antonio Riverwalk.

I took my family and in-laws for an end-of-summer getaway. The service was great. The views from the rooftop pool and terrace were wonderful. The lobby, elevators, hallways are well appointed, maintained and clean. The rooms were also very clean and comfortable. Having breakfast and dinner at the hotel make the stay all the more hospitable and convenient, not to mention a great value. The food was quite simple, but the kids loved it. Popcorn, soda, hot dogs and mac n' cheese are crowd pleasers. So our food budget went to lunches in the restaurants around the River Walk. The location is awesome. Right in the heart of San Antonio, within walking distance of all the main sights. The fact that the hotel is a renovated bank building added a lot of character. The huge bank lobby was visually grand and comforting. If you want to bring the family to see the Riverwalk and spend time in Downtown San Antonio, I don't there's a better place to stay than this hotel.

Room Tip: The higher rooms have great views, but you'll have a little wait on the elevators if the hotel i...

This is a beautiful old bank building that's been converted to a hotel, and it's very nicely done. Location is right on the Riverwalk. Lobby gorgeous with plenty of seating to relax, read morning paper and enjoy a cup of coffee. I wouldn't stay anyplace else.

Me and 3 of my girlfriends came in for a girls weekend. We did not have a pleasant stay here. The linen had blood stains, mattress had huge urine stains, money was stolen out of 2 of my friends purse. The breakfast & kickback was very nice! I wouldn't stay here again. The elevators were super slow.

Chose this hotel due to proximity to Riverwalk and Majestic Theater which was extremely helpful and walkable. Lovely historical decor and flair determined we overpaid considering they type of people who were staying at the hotel. (When I worked Hilton during the summer we had a phrase for guests who brought coolers with them and had no real luggage). Appreciated $21/day valet as parking is challenging downtown. Valets were working hard despite errant guests parking willy-nilly. Front desk check-in was good, didn't say room number aloud, informed of amenities. Room was well appointed, clean, comfortable, and quite. Elevators were VERY SLOW and couldn't accommodate guest traffic; by morning we went up/down to breakfast and check-out twice via stairs. Breakfast was busy but selections were very nice,as were the staff, but can't say much for guest manners and decorum. While I can't hold the hotel accountable for the type of guests, when the rate is right, the locals cometh.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us, we value your feedback. I apologize that the elevators were slower with the number of guests we had and we will work with our elevator service company to ensure that our elevator systems are working at full capacity to handle our busy summer crowds. Indeed, summer is here and we have a lot of happy, hungry family members dining with us for our complimentary hot breakfast and our complimentary 5:30 Kickback. I appreciate the kind words regarding our staff and hope you will give us the opportunity to take care of your travel needs in the future. Thanks again for staying with us and we hope to see you again!
