“Best biscuits and gravy EVER!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2013

Great location (You can walk to all the attractions and back door exit takes you to the Riverwalk.), friendly staff, comfortable rooms, free breakfast buffet in the morning and drinks and snacks in the afternoon. Don't forget to check out the San Fernando Cathedral, which we could see from our room) and its gift shop/museum. Loved the Mexico Manhattan restaurant near the hotel. The rooms are priced fairly, but San Antonio's hotel tax and the daily parking fee really add to the bill.

Room Tip: A view of the San Fernando Cathedral is great. It's lit up in the evening.

I have been to this hotel several times and I always enjoy it. The kick off at 5:30 everyday to 7 pm is great to get some food if you don't feel like spending a lot of money on food and also the 3 drinks you get is great because then there is less alcohol you need to buy at other restaurants. The jacuzzi on the top deck is awesome and the pool is as well.

Room Tip: Get the 2 Room Jacuzzi and Terrace Suite with 1 King Bed Non-Smoking

We love staying at the Drury Plaza on the Riverwalk! You can't hardly beat the price. due to the kick back and the breakfast! It is very conviently located on the Riverwalk. We didn't have to drive anywhere but the zoo. We've stayed here now for the past 3 years and always look forward to seeing our favorite bartender, Annette! She is so friendly and makes the best bloody marys! It's always a pleasure to see her smiling face! All of the staff at the Drury are very friendly. Hector was also always around and making sure everything was to our satisfaction. The kids love the pool on the roof! It's a little small for the size of the hotel but it works out fine. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay on the Riverwalk!!!

Room Tip: Stay as high as you can to avoid the road noise.

Wonderful place to stay!! On the riverwalk and just a short walk to the Alamo! Love the 5 o'clock kick back!! Breakfast was great! Staff was amazingly helpful! The pool on the roof was fabulous....the only drawback was that it closed at 10:00. Would have loved a midnight swim!

Though this Hotel is right on the Riverwalk the hotel doesn't have any place to sit and enjoy it like the other hotels along the Riverwalk do. You either have to stand outside or sit on the edge of a planter. I brought this to the attention of the Hotel Manager on check out, but, he said the seating would get stolen???

The hotel itself was nice. The included kick start evening food and drinks as well as the hot breakfast was good for the budget.

Thank you very much for letting us know of your past experience with us. I appreciate your honest feedback to help us become better. We are very proud of our historic hotel and put a great amount of care and attention into it, and we are presently looking at some ways we could add a sitting area on the riverwalk level.

I appreciate the positive comments regarding our staff as we strive to give outstanding customer service. We hope to have the opportunity to exceed your expectations in the future! Thank you again for choosing Drury Hotels.

Never stayed at a Drury before this. Found out about it by looking here. The Plaza, this location, is literally 3 buildings away from the other Drury Riverwalk-Inn and Suites. Did not go in that one, but walked by it. Chose this location for several reasons, after calling and talking with reservations, found out this location has 2 pools-one being roof top, and one inside. Thought this was a good feature in case it rained, we still had a pool option. The roof top pool was actually really cool! The other reason we chose this one was because of parking, you could do in and out here via the valet parking, don't think that was an option at all the places we looked at-we did use this, several times a day even. FYI-during weekend departure, a big line did occur to get your car, something to maybe plan for if leaving near the time of check out. We stayed Fri-Mon and actually did not occur that long of a wait on Mon. I inquired about it and they said weekends tend to do that. Lastly, this location had a jacuzzi tub and balcony in our room. The jacuzzi/balcony were not a deal breaker, but when I priced both Drury locations, for the extra $50 total for all three nights, felt like the pool, parking, and finally the tub/balcony, were worth it. This building did have some neat "character" if you will, to it. It is an old bank. It actually still has a small Chase branch in it. There are pictures and even a really cool vault in the bottom floor. Anyway, none of this may be worth it to you, at least you have something to help you differentiate maybe:)
We had a very spacious room in the Tower. It did take two elevators to get to, they have like a main building which you go up, then connect to go to the other building/Tower. Wasn't that big of a deal but did take an extra 5-10 min each time. Ask where you are going to be and you will at least be prepared. I do think a lot of the rooms are bigger in the Tower so that is a bonus.
The Drury's have the 5:30 Kick Back with food and Morning Breakfast, included. The Kick Back was cool because you actually got 3 drinks a piece/Adults each day. Mixed drinks included, and they were good. Kids (and Adults) get free soda from 3-10PM each day-as well as popcorn. I did not think that this would be a big deal, but my kiddos thought it was really cool and looked forward to it! All food was good, breakfast stayed the same but it had many choices-eggs, sausage, potaotos, biscuits/gravy, oatmeal, yogurt, fruit, cereal, toast, bagels. Even put out cheese, salsa and such for toppings. Kick Back changed a little, mac&cheese one night and pasta with sauce/ meatballs another. Also included hot dogs, chicken tenders, nachos/cheese, chips, pretzels, carrots, celery, dip.
Our room was fine, no problems. All Staff we seemed to encounter were friendly. The valet boys work really hard at getting everyone in and out-they deserve a shout out for that.
Why not 5 stars you are probably saying, well, the room wasn't shiny-if you will, and the valet could slow you down a little even with those boys working hard. Trying to save 5 star for best of best-the more we write these:) All in all, we did truly enjoy out stay at the Drury and would stay there again in a minute. Added them to our list of cool hotels.

Rooms reasonably up to date and well appointed. Our single king was quite large and comfortable. Services limited but well delivered - more responsive and up scale than the norm. Roof pool a big hit with the kids. Location very good - bustling nightlife to the east on Riverwalk, very pleasant daytime walks N & S - we walked to the Art Museum and beyond. Old time lobby has been beautifully preserved and is an enjoyable place to be.
Con = pet friendly, and pet rooms are not restricted - I don't like sleeping in a bed a dog slept in yesterday. Spotty Wi-Fi on the upper patios.

Room Tip: 2 room suites available in the old (bank) building. Not huge, but very nice.
