We dined here on a Friday night and there was a 30 minute wait to sit outside, however no wait to sit inside. The menu had so many items to choose from that I’ll have to return someday and sit outside next time!

Los Barrios is a great place to go for lunch, dinner or happy hour. It is family friendly with a playground for the kids. I had the enchilada plate with rice and beans. Alway good service and quality preparation of the food. The menu has many unique dishes to choose from and not just the typical tex mex menu.

Although our evening got off to a rocky start, it ended with us being very pleased that we chose this restaurant to eat at on Saturday evening Oct. 12th. The food was excellent and the prices reasonable. I had the chili relleno with queso and the relleno could have been cooked a few minutes longer as it was a little too chewy for my taste. (Had to cut it with a knife where normally it cuts with a fork only.) The beans & rice were typical of most restaurants. Sopaipillas were very large and delicious & served with honey. There's a lovely outside dining area & would have liked to been out there but it was booked up.

There were seven of us and we heard about this restaurant from the Marriott Courtyard where we were staying. It was nearby so we decided to go there about 6:30. When we walked in and were asked if we had reservations, we realized it might be a long wait. However, there were a few smaller empty tables and we asked the hostess if we could just move two tables together. She said "no, they're in 2 different servers stations." So, ok, said we'd wait the 40 minutes or so until they could have space available to accommodate us all at one table. In a few minutes though, another hostess asked if we'd been helped. Told her that we had but "really, why can't we move the one table sitting right next to a booth over to the booth?" She repeated what the first hostess had said about two different stations. At this point, we said "ok, we'll just take the table & the booth because we'd like to go ahead & eat." Now, we walk to the two respective places and start to sit & the WAITRESS comes over and says "do you all want to sit together? I can move the table over next to the booth!" One of our party said "Gee, why didn't we think of that?!"

Bottom line, we had a nice dinner and a story to tell & yes, I'd try them again but will definitely make a reservation first.

This place can be hard to find but when you arrive it looks like everyone in town is there. The restaurant is large but the patio is huge with large trees for shade. We arrived around 7:30 with a party of 8 and were told the wait was 90 minutes. We found the outside bar and gathered around a large group of tables. After about 30 minutes the waitress who had been taking our drink orders asked if we were going to eat. We showed her our pager and she said she would take care of serving us dinner! Could not ask for better service and ambience for a large group. The food was also great.

Cannot wait to take our friends out to the patio! We have been faithful fans of the original restaurant in an older part of San Antonio closer to downtown. The food and service there are excellent and even prompted me to purchase their cookbook. However, we had never given their newer restaurant a chance, but, wow! Glad we did. This is a large, contemporary design with soaring ceilings. Outdoors is a very expansive dining patio and is suitable even for families with children. I am sure that the property was chosen for its large stand of old Live Oak Trees beneath which you will sit if you dine on the patio. It looks comfortable from any standpoint but it is not an actual luxury setting. We are fans of the "homestyle" type of Tex-Mex cooking and I adore best (maybe?) two things: the puffy tacos and the fresh chimichurri sauce. I haven't found any food not to like if you are a Tex-Mex fan and no-thanks to all that sour cream! Drinks can be purchased and the service was very, very good.
