The Crockett Hotel is across the street from the Alamo in downtown San Antonio. It is an old hotel that has been renovated with all new fixtures and furniture and the renovation was well-done.
The pool area is very quaint and a good getaway from the hustle-bustle of the streets and the bar area is also very quaint.
The personnel at the front desk are very nice and very helpful. We highly recommend the grand hotel.

Room Tip: The higher, the better and quieter.

If you want great location, an excellent price, and to get professional service, you need to book this hotel. Loved the view of The Alamo. We could walk everywhere downtown. No doubt I recommend this Hotel.

Room Tip: Corner Suites are larger, and very comfortable. A/C works excellent.

I've stayed in quite a few of the downtown hotels and this was the best experience so far by far. The staff at the counter were very professional. He even remembered my name the next day! We lucked out and got a room on the top floor (Rm 705). It was very large with a wall of windows overlooking the Alamo. Breakfast in the morning was adequate; the usual cold cereals and fruit. Also, a very hot items like eggs and sausage. Texas shaped waffles.

This hotel was great. The staff is amazing and very efficient. The room was clean and spacious. It is directly behind the Alamo and a mere two blocks from the Riverwalk. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for history and a great experience in downtown San Antonio.

We got a good rate on the hotel and it was where we wanted to be, near the Alamo and Riverwalk. The single queen room was a bit small, but the bed was good, and our room overlooked the Alamo Plaza [ask for those]. The plantation shutters kept out the morning light well, but snapped open for photos of the skyline and plaza below. The lit-up carriages clopped by in the street below; fun to watch.

Staff were nice and the included breakfast was fine, for what it was. Come early to avoid the crowds at breakfast.

Our only complaint was the required valet parking [$20/day] and limited size of the unloading area in front of the hotel.

If your focus is not on lounging around the hotel or pool, but seeing the Alamo and Riverwalk area, this is a good value.

Room Tip: Come to breakfast early to avoid the crowds. Ask for a room overlooking the Alamo Plaza.

I chose to stay at this hotel because of the big and beautiful Marriott Riverside because of its historic value, ideal location and great price. And it was a good decision. The rooms were comfortable, large and smelled fresh. The shower is small but that's to be expected at a historic property.

The free breakfast was typical but appreciated. The location served us the best as it's a short walk to the RiverWalk, Alamo, Mall and meeting spaces. The staff was attentive and friendly.

Take note that the handicap accessibility is a little tricky.

This is a pretty hotel - the rooms have all been renovated but no longer look historical. We had a small suite - the room was large and nice with wonderful inside wood shutters on the windows instead of drapes. We viewed the pool - not the Alamo but better than an alley. The hotel does not have a restaurant but does have a bar which we did not visit. My only disappointment with the room was that the bath tub would not hold water so I had to take a shower - I hate showers. Bed was comfortable with lots of pillows. Nice bathrobes, too. We were however awakened at 2:45 in the morning by the fire alarm - the whole building was evacuated - we called the front desk before leaving room - no answer - evidently they were the first to leave building - leaving us unsure of what to do. We were on the 7th floor - so traipsed down all of those stairs to the lobby. We did not have to be there long - firefighters everywhere - in about 10 minutes we were told we could return to our room. Someone on the 3rd floor must have been smoking in their room which set off the alarm in the entire building. This disrupted our sleep and was most annoying but I understand that this was out of their control. I did not feel that the room we got was worth the approximately $200 price tag. - although that price did include parking and a hot breakfast that was okay but not great. I went ahead and gave this property a very good rating - even though I was tempted to go with Average. It is right across the street from The Alamo and very close to the River Walk also. We were able to book a Ghost Tour and met the group right in front of the Alamo.

Thank you for being our recent guest and for taking the time to provide some helpful feedback.

We certainly apologize for the unexpected fire alarm in the midst of a good nights sleep. We never want for such a disruption, but must deal with them all as REAL ALARM situations until we know otherwise. We appreciate everyones understanding that night, and will work to expedite our response times to resolve these types of situations even faster in the future.

Our staff definitely stayed at their jobs during the alarm. The operator on duty was answering phones as fast as she could, with almost everyone calling her.

Thank you for your overall review, even given the alarm event. We appreciate your helpful comments and kind words.
