I dined at Rita's on the River during Fiesta. We were told there was a 35 minute wait, but we were seated within 20 minutes. Our waiter was very polite, but forgot to bring our drinks until we reminded him when he brought our food. The house margarita was good, and the Sour Cream Chicken Enchiladas were as well. I found the Mexican rice dry and the refried beans tasted too much like pork fat for my taste. The tortilla chips didn't seem very fresh either. Mariachis were performing for the tables right next to us for the first 20 minutes we were in the restaurant, and we couldn't even hold a conversation. I believe there are better Mexican restaurants along Riverwalk.

We had the steak and chicken fajitas for two and they were ok. Not a lot of flavor and not a lot of peppers and onions. The homemade tortillas were awesome!

Not that expensive yet fantastic outdoor seating and great margaritas. Try the Don Juan margarita. The food was good basic Mexican food. Nothing fancy but they got it right.

First time on Riverwalk and was attracted by the good prices of Rita's menu. The hostess was barely polite and sent us to the back patio to wait for our page. Decided to pick up some drinks at the bar and got OK service. Margaritas were too expensive, but beer was OK. However, the place literally smelled like a sewer. I think they had a problem with the floor drains. Disgusting so we moved back to the patio where we were paged and moved to a table in the front. We had a great waitress, but the food was very disappointing. The chips came in a million tiny pieces. The salsa was so-so. My chicken fajitas were a joke. They brought a hot plate and a bowl of soggy fajita ingredients. Just before serving to me, they slipped the bowl onto the plate. The chicken was tasteless and the onions and peppers were hard to find because they were a soggy mess having been stewed all day, apparently. Add cheap fake sour cream and canned guacamole and you get the picture. I hope that waitress can find a better place to work because I will never go back.

After visiting the Alamo the first place we saw on the RiverWalk was Rita's. There were mariachis singing and playing music and we decided to stop for lunch. The menu is Mexican fare. The food came to our table fresh and hot. The tables are not near the river but inside an open air area. We were seated at a table close to the walk where we cold see the river and tourists walking around. The service was fast and we were soon on our way to enjoy the rest of the day.
