“Great way to explore the city”
Reviewed January 24, 2013

This was a great way to tour the city and stop at the attractions you like. I recommend taking the earliest trolley so you can stop at all the attractions you like. The drivers were also narrators and guides. The trolley bus was heated and is suitable for young children. Ask for special offers at the front desk, they have deals like second day pass free.

“GREAT way to get your bearings in San Antonio”
Reviewed January 9, 2013

Ask for Leroy as your driver!!!!! He was knowledgeable and humorous. Wonderful trip around the city. Nice highlights. Good way to see sights that a visitor wouldn't normally get to unless they were speicifically interested in that spot. Hop on hop off option is wonderful!

“Great way to see San Antonio!”
Reviewed January 5, 2013

Great narrated tour of San Antonio from an air conditioned and heated trolley/bus. I would advise those taking this tour to possibly take the option of the free second day and pay for the hop-on/hop-off option. The tour that is narrated takes about an hour to go to about 10 different stops across San Antonio, the longest travel time taking about 15 minutes to go to one of the missions. We took the narrated tour the first day (it was late in the day), and opted for the hop-off/hop-on option for the second day. Look on the Alamo Trolley website for current promotions. When we took the tour they were offering a second day free with purchase of the hop package, as well as when you purchased that you received a ticket to the IMAX Theater to watch a historical presentation of the Alamo on the IMAX screen. In addition you received a ticket to the Rio San Antonio Riverboat Cruises to tour the Riverwalk area. We visited during Christmas time and were able to see the riverwalk all decorated with Christmas Lights. Definitely worth the extra time and wait to see the river area. The nice thing about having a ticket in advance was that you get to cut through all of the people in line who are waiting to buy a ticket for the boat. Please take my advice and use Alamo Trolley as an option to get you to see all of the sights in San Antonio without having to take a personal car and pay for parking.

“Great narrated tour of highlights of San Antonio”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

Alamo Trolley tours offers a one hour tour and a hop off/hop on tour for reasonable prices. While you are waiting for the trolley at the shop, you can follow a walk within the tour shop and tour the first floor of the Menger Hotel, one of the oldest hotels in Texas, filled with photos of such famous people as Teddy Roosevelt.

The trolley driver narrates the tour and they know their stuff. You tour past the museums, LaVillita. The most interesting things are the Missions which were built in the 1700s and are still active today with Sunday services, so if you want to go in them on the hop off/hop on tour Sunday is probably not the best day. The driver all tells the history of how and why they were built and their proximity to one another on the San Antonio River and how they received their names. It was well worth the $19.95 price for the one hour tour. If it had not been our last day we would have bought the hop on/hop off ticket but ran out of time.

“Only worth it if you get the hop on/off option early in the day.”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

I delayed in planning this tour so we took the last "trolley" (bus) of the day at around 5pm. They did exactly what they advertised, drove us around for an hour to different sites. The problem was, you just get to drive by the sites, not stop at them and wander about, UNLESS you go for the hop on/off option, which we couldn't because it was the last trolley.
If you have time and plan ahead then this is a 5 star attraction (they also have a 2nd day free option) because you can get off at any or all of the sites to do your sight seeing, then just hop on the next bus, er trolley. This is what we'll do the next time we're in San Antonio.
