“Very Nice Pool area and Lazy River”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

We had booked 2 nights at the Hyatt Hill Country Resort but ended up spending more time at the Wild Oak Ranch because it was much less crowded and their pool area was much nicer. Though this is a Hyatt timeshare, we were able to use the facilities because we attended their timeshare presentation. I can't remember the name of our timeshare guide, but I can tell you that he practically threw a tantrum when we told him that we weren't going to buy a timeshare. My wife actually thought that he was pretending to throw a tantrum, but he actually was! In any case, the facilities are very nice and the lazy river and water slides are very fun. My 7 year old especially loved the water slides because of how fast you hit the water. We didn't eat here other than having a couple of root beer floats so I can't comment on the food. Overall, I think that this would be a great place for a long weekend or to visit Sea World which is about 5 minutes away.

This is the perfect family resort. The facilities and accommodations are spectacular. We had so much fun, quality time as a family that we cannot wait to go back.

The lazy river, indoor/outdoor pool and water slides are the highlight. Very safe, not crowded, so much fun for all. The slides are REALLY good, not just for kids.

The grounds are beautiful.

The activities like S'mores and outdoor movies are very well done and create a memorable experiences.

I suggest the one-bedroom upgrade over the studio if you are traveling with children. The full kitchen is very nice and will end up saving you money if you bring your own food. The jacuzzi tub is soooo nice for mommy & daddy after the kids are in bed. The separate bedroom is very nice too.

What impressed me is they seem to have thought of everything. Both the large balcony and the bathroom have access from the bedroom and the living room so you can still move around without disturbing the kids at night & visa versa.

We didn't use the kids clubs or restaurants so I can't comment there. But the pool bars were great! Delicious drinks made quickly.

My daughter (almost 2) had so much fun that when she woke up and saw we were still there she laughed with joy.

I plan on returning every year, best family bonding and fun vacation I can imagine.

As part of our family's quest to never vacation twice at the same place, we chose San Antonio for spring break. The result - COLD (but it was freezing everywhere). Hyatt had two resorts there - we chose this one over Hill Country due to a) traveling with three kids (7, 9 and 11) and b) Hill Country was under construction. This is a very nice property. Lots of pools, and a HEATED lazy river (saved the whole trip.). One bedroom suite with kitchen was also very nice. Can't really complain about anything but the weather. There's a great game room here for the kids, good Hyatt food in the restaurants, well kept pool areas with slides. Probably wouldn't go back to San Antonio again. Nice Zoo, saw the Alamo, riverwalk is awesome, but if we did would likely stay here again.

Our family enjoys the San Antonio area very much; we visit several times a year. When we go, we always stay at the beautiful Hyatt Wild Oak Ranch. On our most recent visit, my husband and I were celebrating our 38th anniversary. Staff members: Joey Holmes and Michael Sy of the Ice House impressed us so much when they delivered a special Anniversary Gift Basket with a personal note. We appreciated this gesture and it is a wonderful example of how the entire staff makes their guests comfort a top priority.

Thanks for another memorable visit!

The Wild Oak is a short distance from Sea World and offers daily shuttle service. There is also a lazy river and two water slides on the property.

We were invited for a two night stay by Hyatt to hear their time share presentation. The room was comfortable. Linens were ok, not 5 star. Only one average restaurant. Nothing for a nice dinner. Nothing open for breakfast. I guess they want you to cook in your unit. You can go to the Hyatt close by. No restaurants close by. We enjoyed the pool, lazy river and waterslide the most.
Serice was mediocre also. robert in the restaurant was the only outstanding server. the resort automatically adds tips to your bill which probably accounts for why servers don't go out of their way.
Probably wonderful for families but just not so much for a couple.

I wanted to go camping, my family thought that was a crazy idea. We found Hyatt Wild Oak Ranch as a happy compromise. It is located where the hill-country begins in San Antonio and close to Sea World. We had an amazing one-bed room apt. that had a living room and full kitchen and washer and dryer. My children loved the large bathroom with tub. The pool is great with a slide and volleyball net as well as the lazy river. There are cabana areas and hammocks to rest on in secluded areas. The sandy area and play-ground was fun for my youngest. In the evening there were several areas with fire pits and we could make smores and and sit on rocking chairs and bench swings. During the summer there are outdoor movies where everyone sits on picnic blankets and watches under the stars. We went to Sea World, which is always a fun time, but the hotel was just as much of a destination if not more. There were no lines and space to play for everyone. To add to the fun, we could use the facilities at the Hyatt Hill Country Resort. They had many activities planned, but the Wild Oak Ranch was more intimate with less of a crowd.

Room Tip: This property is part of their Vacation club, so if you are looking for that type of investment, the...

The family had a great time at the Hyatt Wild Oak Ranch Resort. This is our family tradition of staying at our condo and enjoying a last hooray before school. The Lazy River is a blast and you need to visit with Paul at the cabana at the Lazy River. He makes a great Malibu Splash, Piña Colada, Margarita, and Bloody Mary. Paul moved to Texas from Wisconsin and is a great conversationalist. You should stop by and say hello. He will mix you a great experience.
