We really enjoyed our lunch in this very interesting restaurant in San Antonio, is like being somewhere in Mexico. The food was really enjoyable and the ambience is just very unique, just a good mexican restaurant to enjoy outside the crazyness of the River Walk.

We visited on a cold afternoon around 4:00 pm. A late lunch for us, early supper for others? Although there was no wait for a table at this time the restaurant had plenty of customers. Good, food, good service, strolling mariachi's, chips made on site. I recommend this as a stop for any visitor to San Antonio. The location in the Market area at Commerce and I35 is healthy stroll from the hotels along the river walk. This restaurant is where the locals eat.

always great service and a great meal. we always stop here when in san antonio. been here for all three meals across different visits. have not had an upgraded margarita but have had there traditional version and its enjoyable (over ice, please). the breakfasts are filling, and others are very satisfying. they have mariachi band/singers wandering thru and for a small fee they will sing a song to your table. we did! on the way out on our last visit, ran into mexican elvis. also, the milk cake from the bakery is absolutely wonderful!!

Crowded Saturday night but the staff are efficient - follow the strip of carpet to the hostess, she gives you a 'buzzer', wait time is accurate. If it is a nice day wait in the tented area outside. Waiter was very friendly and professional. Draft beer was perfectly frosted. Chips were a little stale and a few were even soggy :p I love hot, flavorful salsa, so had to ask for that versus the standard mush served with the chips. The 'hotter' salsa (still not hot my my standards) was so much better - especially the green!
Menu is pretty much standard; so are the beans and rice. The machacada, however, was absolutely delicious - the beef was extraordinarily savory. Flour tortillas far superior to the corn which were a disappointment.
Bakery is good no matter what you try. That's a different line than the restaurant - take a number!
Overall, a fun place to visit at least once.

My wife stopped by for dinner and split the Deluxe plate(5 oz rib eye, tamale, taco, cheese enchilada) as it would have been way to much for 1 of us to eat. Great flavor and quick service. It was $16.99. Margaritas were also tasty after a long day.

The next morning we ordered breakfast tacos to go for our trip back home. They definitely are not chincy as the tacos were quite full and very tasty.

Be aware of extras: Marachi singers, photographers etc. looking to make a few bucks.
