This is, without doubt, one of my very favorite restaurants in the country. We eat here every chance we get, which is not nearly often enough. Our business takes us to cities all over the country pretty much every week, and Sea Island has consistently wonderful food, very good service, and GREAT value. Let's take it from the top: Their seafood is really fresh. The sides they offer are much better than the old "fries and cole slaw" deal - the baked potatoes are fresh, the dinner salad is fresh and large, my husband likes their green beans. The service is partly self-serve - you order your food at a front station, then pick up your drink and take a buzzer to your table - when your salads and/or soup are ready, you pick them up, and the same when your main course is ready. This is not a fancy place, though it is very nice - comfy tables and chairs, service moves fast - but the staff are very accommodating and friendly. They have many many choices; both ocean and freshwater fish, and - my personal favorite - stuffed shrimp (big gulf shrimp stuffed with a really good crab-based stuffing). Always way more than I can eat - big servings. We always eat our fish and seafood fried, and theirs is nice and light and not coated with a two-inch-thick coating that soaks up a ton of oil.
And - of all the places we eat seafood - their prices are the most reasonable for the quantity and quality of the food. In short - great, fresh food for very good prices, in a friendly, informal setting - I beg you, if you are in San Antonio and near any of their locations - eat at Sea Island. You will NOT be sorry!
