This is a great place for boiled crawfish when in season. The rich etouffe and gumbo are very tasty too. Besides having a decent cajun meal here, the place affords some entertainment as well. I have been here a number of times when customers are trying boiled mud bugs for the first time and it can be a real comedy.
The fun begins when you hear "What's the best way to eat these?" And if they have a good wait person, you will hear them mention about sucking the heads for a flavor burst which is pure cajun. The twisted grimaces and gnarled facial expressions that follow are priceless. Then there's the claws . . . I have seen people in an exasperated thumb and forefinger squeeze desperately trying to extract the minuscule amount of meat that resides there. They end up launching the thing in an arced trajectory half way across the room where it ends up in someone else's gumbo with a ker-plunk!
I have almost choked on my hush puppies after seeing such comical antics. After all, laughter is good for the digestion and the mud bug pop here will have you rolling in the isles!
