“True, true Tex-mex”
Reviewed May 21, 2012

It is astonishing to me that in San Antonio there is so much horrible Tex-Mex. Growing up here I have had it all, West side, south side and its rarely better than mediocre. Milagrito puts my faith back in mexican humanity. It's simple, typical SA food, not the type to eat if youre a vegetarian or on a diet of any kind. Most of their dishes are strait forward, traditional South Texas, hot and fresh. The only issue I can remember is that the papas will vary and a few times have been over done. Great for Breakfast.
The inside is a little "hole in the wall" but so is this entire city. The tables are clean and the table side sauces are fresh. If you are going to be offended by chipped plaster, again, welcome to San Antonio. One note that can affect your server response time: English is spoken, however, not by everyone and it may be more efficient to order in *gasp* spanish.

“Good breakfast tacos”
Reviewed March 28, 2012

The food was great - fresh, tasty, flavorful and huge in portion! There's no doubt that you'll have plenty to eat when you go there.

The service wasn't bad, but it wasn't exactly good. I don't expect to be catered to, but I would hope you at least could try to act as if you want to be there. Our waitress had no smile, no personality and it was clear she was just going through the motions. After we sat, it took about 10 minutes to get acknowledged and get a menu.

However, despite the service issue, we still liked the food, the location and the local flavor to it.

“Great Selection of Tortas”
Reviewed February 17, 2012

We went during lunch and there are different daily specials that diners can order. I was after a Torta so I ordered the Carne Guisada Torta with grilled jalapenos. The sandwich was wonderful and the service was great. In San Antonio, Mexican and Tex-Mex food is typically a bargain.

“Great Tacos”
Reviewed January 2, 2012

Great tacos, especially after a night of celebrating! Wife and I had the Taco Loco, Taco Feo and Barbacoa tacos. All were excellent. Shared a bowl of menudo, but it was average (not much meat but flavor was ok).

Went here twice for breakfast...1st time I got the daily "Special" and It was fine....Went back 2 days later and had 3 of their Breakfast Tacos. Now those are GREAT! This place doesn't pretend to be anything other than what it is. It's a little worn around the edges in a gritty, working class neighborhood sort of way. My business partner and I (2 NYC guys) liked it. Had our wives been w/ us they may not have been as "excited". (Well, until they got their fresh soft-shelled tacos, that is....) It's not Dotties True Blue Cafe in San Fran....but the food is good and the service/attitude is very good. (Hint: Tip big---they don't charge enough!!)
