While traveling, restaurants can be as important as your hotel – Where you eat and where you stay can make or break your vacation.
As part as my travel plans, I always check restaurant reviews and make note of several places. The, I ask the locals where they eat. This was a match, so we headed to Bob’s Smokehouse, now Old Smokehouse, located at 5145 Fredericksburg Rd., off 410.
Nothing fancy about this place – The focus is on the food and they got it right. Once inside the small-wood paneled dining room, go left to the order window, place your order, grab a tray and walk around the counter for pickup. You can order single items by serving, by the pound, special plates, daily specials and sandwiches. We ordered the daily specials # 3(Beef Brisket, Chicken, Pork Spare Rib) for $9.50, # 4(Beef Brisket, Sausage, Chicken, Pork spare Rib) for $11.25 and a ½ chicken combo plate for $8.00. All, with cole slaw and potato salad. Other sides include the beans or cream corn. Wish they had corn in the cob! You can also call in your order or place order online. Plenty of folks did that while I was seating there.
Everything was fresh, juicy, tender and flavorful. Add their special sauce and it was succulent. These servings will satisfy any fella with a hearty appetite. Needless to say, my partners couldn’t finish, but I’ll be darned if I let this food go to waste. So I indulge myself inhaling every divine piece of smoked-to-perfection meat of this truly delicious feast. Okay, the soda was flat, but I really didn’t care.
In short: Abundant servings of great food at very reasonable prices.
