“Go down the street instead”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

This historic restaurant used to be good but has gone down hill over the years. Crappy food, bad service. Go to the nice restaurant down the street instead. Can't remember the name but anything is better than Hung Fong.

“I absolutely adore this place!”
Reviewed December 31, 2012

Authentic, old school, Chinese American resturaunt circa 1939! The oldest one in San Antonio. Wow, what a find. Put aside that I fed five people for less than a single person at the overpriced 20nine I also reviewed today. The food is good! The menu is classic! Its is a time machine that probably looked the same when Humphrey Bogart at there. I had a great time. My friends who lived in China for a year recommended it as you can get pretty much anything there you can get in China, and you can order off menu if you want... we just had everything served family style and it was wonderful.

“Hit or Miss”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

Some items over the years have improved with freshness (like some of the veggies) but the rice is still hard and dry.The tofu veggie delight was pretty good (a hit). The veggies were not overdone but the portion size was small. The plastic tea cups are original with broken chips on the surface and it seems to match the 1970's tables, nasty carpet and decor. My kids like the orange chicken (fried) with the greasy fried rice and french fries but there were no vegetables served on any of the children's plates (a total miss).

“Egg Foo Yum!!”
Reviewed November 3, 2012

This is the oldest Chinese restaurant in San Antonio and is still owned by the same family. The food is delicious and the service is great! Very generous portions and reasonable prices--what's not to like?

“Very friendly service”
Reviewed May 24, 2012

The guy who runs this place is very friendly and will nearly talk your ear off. He is proud of the business and brags about how long it has been in business.

On the food side, though, all I can say is that is mediocre. It is very hot and fresh when it comes out, but just tastes so dull. The spicy hot dish we got was not spicy at all. I just can't describe what it might be lacking.

It is your typical Taiwanese style "chinese" restaurant, so the menu will be familar. I think they need to amp up their dishes in order to compete. The prices are very reasonable though, especially if you order the meals for two.
