You can't beat Cappy for consistency. Always good food at a moderate to high price. Nice, compact bar with limited seating.

“Wonderful food, not-so-wonderful Service”
Reviewed January 16, 2013

Cappy's is a great restaurant in a great location, but unfortunately the service was abysmal the night my party and I were there. The waitress could not describe a meritage wine, and stumbled her way through the specials. She seemed very much out of her element. The kitchen and bar were top notch however. We each had the flounder which was simply marvelous. I, however am not a fan of the bed of squash and spinach on which the flounder sat and asked for the fish to be served without the veggies and instead I wanted the fingering potatoes. Well, yep, the fish came with the squash and spinach. I went ahead and kept the entree but asked again for the fingerling potatoes. The potatoes arrived at the end of the meal, and I was charged for the substitution. Nice. Ultimately that charge was rescinded but I had to point it out. I probably will not go back anytime soon for dinner as although the food is wonderful, the entrees are pricey and my bill was $40 for the flounder, a glass of wine, tax and tip. I might go back and try it at lunch time, but most likely not for dinner again. Overall Cappy's really does have a wonderful menu, kitchen staff and building, but they definitely need to pay attention to the performance of the waitstaff.

“Our last day in San Antonio”
Reviewed January 7, 2013

We moved from S.A to Pittsburgh and ate our final restaurant meal at Cappy's. Food was great, as usual, service top notch, atmosphere was best in town and we will miss the staff and owners of this most excellent eatery.

“Cappy's is one of the best restaurants in San Antonio”
Reviewed January 5, 2013

The food is rock solid in it's quality. Nothing flashy or unusual to it, cooked right with excellent quality. Lot's of families and Alamo Heights matriarchs eat here. It's particularly busy during lunch time, so a reservation may not be a bad idea.
