Description: Our chefs have painstakingly created a menu of wine-friendly fare consisting of old world hors d'oeuvres and regionally inspired tapas. From baked Texas goat cheese with kalamata olives to fresh chocolate covered strawberries, the menu caters to the diversity of the food enthusiasts. Charles Court, at the rear of Zinc, is a truly serene gathering place for a rare outdoor experience. The private, spacious courtyard makes for a quiet sanctuary from the clatter of downtown city streets and the Riverwalk.

“Perfect stop for a snack and a drink”
Reviewed May 4, 2014

I wanted a snack, so I ordered a refreshing glass of sangria and the spicy spinach artichoke gratin. Portions were not too big and not too small - just right. Service was quick and friendly.

Sat on the back patio in the late afternoon sunshine. A wonderful spot!

“Do a burger”
Reviewed May 2, 2014

We went to Zinc for lunch on the recommendation of a fellow conference attendee. The appetizers were unremarkable, but the lamb burger was excellent. One in our party had the Zinc burger, which he liked.

“Courtyard, guacamole and delightful surroundings”
Reviewed May 1, 2014

We had reservations for another restaurant on the Riverwalk. When we were to be seated, it was crowded, noisy and our party of 5 couldn't even hear the waitress. We asked if there was another room or space we could visit comfortably. One of the staff took us to Zinc, which she said is owned by the same chef and it was much quieter. We were thrilled with the lovely courtyard with splashing fountains, vine covered walls and peaceful surroundings. The wine list was good and we had a lovely red from France. We ordered the hamburger, lamb burger, chicken Caesar salad, short ribs and the house salad. All of these were wonderful. The deserts had a pumpkin cream brulee that was really nicely done, not overwhelming on the spice. The guacamole made tableside was nicely spiced and in generous portions as well. It was a wonderful space to visit with friends, have a quiet dinner away from the noise on the river walk and have delightful service.

“Very Disappointing”
Reviewed April 29, 2014 credit card Amex Card Member Review

Based on reviews almost chose not to go, but decided to give it. Wish we hadn't. On the plus side, the interior is quaint and there is outside patio seating in the back. The guacamole was also very fresh/tasty. On the negative side, the bar is not very comfortable to sit at, the calamari was not very good, and the wine pours were small. I did not expect that a wine bar would pour red wine in a white wine glass - but maybe that is because if they did the glass would look pretty empty. Did notice that they did give red wine glasses if you ordered a full bottle. Service was adequate - got the order correct, food arrived in timely fashion, but did not feel overly welcomed. We will not be returning.

“Consistently great!”
Reviewed April 27, 2014 via mobile

Have eaten at Zinc 4 times in the last year with family, friends and coworkers. It is consistently great - food, atmosphere, service. This has become our favorite place in San Antonio. Must try the burger with a great bottle of wine!
