Description: Our chefs have painstakingly created a menu of wine-friendly fare consisting of old world hors d'oeuvres and regionally inspired tapas. From baked Texas goat cheese with kalamata olives to fresh chocolate covered strawberries, the menu caters to the diversity of the food enthusiasts. Charles Court, at the rear of Zinc, is a truly serene gathering place for a rare outdoor experience. The private, spacious courtyard makes for a quiet sanctuary from the clatter of downtown city streets and the Riverwalk.

“Amazingly Delicious!”
Reviewed November 21, 2013

Zinc Wine Cafe is great! I was here as part of a group of 30 people from a conference spread among three large tables that just about filled the dining room. Everyone loved the food. People who had the crab cakes, the fish and chips, the housemade guacamole, the shrimp poor boy, the bread pudding, and the sweet potato fries all raved about them. The chocolate-dipped strawberries were served with a generous dollop of fresh whipped cream and were freshly dipped. The wood floor did not absorb sound, so it was a bit noisy, though. Even though we were a large group, service was timely and we were not rushed. Several people at the dinner liked Zinc so much that they returned on their own before they left San Antonio.

“Great place just off the riverwalk”
Reviewed November 19, 2013 via mobile

Kind of a hidden gem. We spent about 2 hours here, kicking back with a bottle of wine and an exceptional pizza. The staff was exceptionally kind and the outdoor atmosphere was relaxing with water features and sculptures surrounding the area. The prices were very reasonable and I would definitely return to this restaurant.

“Good food at reasonable prices, with friendly service”
Reviewed November 15, 2013

We decided to eat somewhere that wasn't on the River Walk, but within easy walking distance of our hotel on West Market Street. Zinc filled the bill and had good reviews on Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed. We shared a Margherita pizza, accompanied by salad, and chocolate-covered strawberries for dessert. The food was delicious, and the service was friendly and timely. We were seated at a table in the dining room, which is separate from the bar. Nevertheless, the music was too loud to be called "background", especially because of all the hard surfaces. The restaurant is very convenient to a theater and across the street from a parking garage. Four policemen occupied a table nearby, making us believe this is a place that locals appreciate, not just tourists.

“My faith in a restaurant's ability to make a great burger is restored!”
Reviewed November 15, 2013

Thanks to several folks who recommended we go here for good burgers, though indeed, with the slice of crisp fried cheddar and the fact that they used good beef that wasn't overcooked(!), they were excellent. And squeezing orange into the tableside-prepared guacamole added a pleasant zing too. Getting a burger with fries on nearby Riverwalk, especially at one of those Disneyesque-franchise-HooterForest-TexHotels is pointless and pricier. We really enjoyed the unrushed atmosphere, the beautitful courtyard and our friendly waitress. The only drawback was they have no beer on tap; yes they're a "champagne & wine" (& cigar) bar, but a few better or seasonal beers on tap would be a great addition to their limited bottled-only beer selection. When we return, we'll force ourselves to order something other than burgers - that'll be tricky, but, I'm certain, worth the risk.

“Way Over Rated”
Reviewed November 8, 2013

From a reservation made through the web page which was lost, to forgotten Appetizer, to food that showed up after 45 minutes to a warm salad the place was awful. The waitress wanted to talk with her coworkers and disappeared for ages. Others served our food and cleared. She was no where to be found. Hamburger was good but fries were cold and greasy. Salad was warm and the onion rings on top cold and soggy. The whole miserable experience took 2.45 hours and only a few minutes of that was eating.
