When in San Antonio we always have breakfast and/or lunch at Schilo's. We wish they were also open on Sundays. Really neat atmosphere in an old building with tile floor near the riverwalk. Breakfast is typical....really good grits. Lunch menu has the usual coffee shop offerings and some German specialties, such as schnitzel.

Had breakfast at Schilo's. The coffee was great. The food was good, not great. Service was very mediocre. Not sure why they get such great reviews. Maybe there just aren't many good diners in the area to compare it too. They need to clean the booths better. My, wife, my 8 month old son and I all left with stickiness from old syrup in the booths. GROSS!

An excellent stop while in San Antonio.

Excellent food and the Root Beer Floats are Great.

Say "Hello" to Tony the waitress (as she says "Y-not" T-o-n-y spelling for a ladies name) She is an excellent waitress.

A friend of mine told me we had to go....she said the rootbeer is a must have. now they have lots to drink besides rootbeer..but if you are a rootbeer fan (guilty) then this is a must!! The very best homemade rootbeer ever! Great staff...cool older bulding (1917 i believe they started). Love the sandwiches and yummy homemade green pea soup. I know what your thinking...but it was amazing good! Enjoy!

This is one of the better places for breakfast, or lunch, close to the Riverwalk. Feeling of being a 'local' with great service and good food at reasonable prices. Cindi and Andrew gave us some of the best service while in town.
