Description: Located just a few minutes from downtown in architecturally rich Monte Vista, La Fonda on Main is the oldest Mexican food restaurant in San Antonio. La Fonda serves both the best of Tex-Mex cuisine as well as authentic dishes of interior Mexico in a fun and casual setting with beautiful patio dining. Open daily serving lunch and dinner as well as a memorable Sunday brunch menu, we offer a full bar with a wide variety of liquor, beer and wine. Our famous margaritas are made with hand-squeezed limes and your choice of a large selection of tequilas.

“Outstanding Mexican”
Reviewed November 18, 2013

This restaurant has a well deserved high rating on Trip Advisor. We made reservations based on the reviews, and La Fonda did not disappoint! The chips and salsa were homemade and excellent. We had a sampler platter that included very tasty enchiladas, tacos, and a tamale. The frozen margarita was also great. I highly recommend La Fonda for a great dining experience away from the downtown.

“Wonderful courtyard dining”
Reviewed November 14, 2013

Had a group of 18 and needed a restaurant which would take reservations on a weekend. La Fonda was wonderful - beautiful courtyard and the food was excellent. Everyone enjoyed their entrees. The menu was diverse enough for those who were wanting something different from the traditional "TexMex" fare. So glad we ventured off the Riverwalk for a special experience.

“La Fonda Special”
Reviewed November 12, 2013 via mobile

The La Fonda Special was just that, special! Chips and Salsa were great as well. A little more expensive than the national chain restaurants but a whole lot better food and atmosphere. The special was $15, but plenty for 2 to split. I've eaten at all the places on the Riverwalk and La Fonda on Main is my new favorite.

“Best Mexican I had in San Antonio”
Reviewed November 12, 2013

So glad I listened to other reviewers and left the Riverwalk for some Excellent food! We visited SA on our 10th Anniversary and Love Mexican food. Sat on the Patio , it was very cozy even on a "Chilly" nite for Texas as they had patio heaters. Everything we had from appetizer to dessert was just right! Only wish we had found the place sooner so we could have went more than once. DEFINATELY worth getting off the Riverwalk.

“The best Mexican food!”
Reviewed November 4, 2013

Cannot express how wonderful the food is!!!! We got an appetizer which was chicken breasts, cheese and jalepenos with a sauce which was awesome! I then had the spinach and mushroom enchiladas and they were the best!!! My husband had the mole enchiladas which he said were awesome as well! I had read that the traditional margaritas were really smooth and strong, so we decided to just try them first, and boy were they strong for just the traditional margarita! Chips and salsa were also really good, cannot wait to go back!
