Description: The Little Rhein Steak House is housed in the Bombach House in historic La Villita. The Coahuiltecan Indians founded a settlement here in the 1500s, and in the early 18th century Spanish soldiers and Canary Islanders established a village on the site. The Mexican General Santa Anna encamped here during the battle of the Alamo. During the 19th century, German immigrants designated this area as the Little Rhein district, hence the name Little Rhein Steak House. In 1847, Otto Bombach, a carpenter, built the first two-story structure here for his family. The Bombach House was thereafter utilized as an early Texas home, a boarding house, a grocery store and bar, a private school, and a hangout for desperados. Old photos, posters, beverage trays and other San Antonio collectibles adorn the limestone walls of the Main Dining Room. Antique accents including brass lights from the Federal Courthouse and wooden benches from the Katy Train Depot help to create a comfortable rustic atmosphere

This was a nice place to dine that is located right on the river walk. The food was very good though I think it was a title pricy for what it really was. The food does not disappoint. Just be aware that tips are included in even individual checks.

The location is nice and quiet with peaceful views of the walkers and boats going by. Make reservations as they fill up quickly with all the conventions that come to town. This is very close to the convention center. We enjoyed it though I am not sure we would go back as there are so many mother restaurants to choose from too. This is not a slam by any means. This is a convention city and there are dozens of restaurants within the river walk.

Had a good experience, good service & steaks were tasty. Great atmosphere with outside seating, a bit pricy but will go back.

We chose Little Rhein for our anniversary dinner on the Riverwalk after walking around trying to locate somewhere to eat that was not a chain restaurant (i.e. Dick's, Landry's, etc.). The service was nice, and our waitress was friendly. I'm glad we chose to eat outside, because inside smells musty and old (it's a historic building). They have seating outside right on the Riverwalk.

On to the food. Everything on the menu is ordered a la cart. I had the chicken breast, which was delicious. Granted, it was a $30 chicken breast so it should have been amazing. My boyfriend had the steak, and he was severely disappointed. It was overpriced and under seasoned. He usually eats his steak plain, but had to ask for A1 sauce to give it flavor. The bread they serve you beforehand is crusty and flavorless. It didn't come out warm either.

This is a tourist trap. Overpriced for a sub par experience. Skip it.

My husband and I have walked the riverwalk many times over the years, passing the Little Rhein Steakhouse. We would always talked about eating there sometime. We finally made a reservation this past Friday night. My husband, daughter and I went. While the riverwalk view was lovely and very inviting (except for the water tank directly across the riverwalk), the food left much to be desired. We each ordered the petite filet mignon. The sides were served ala carte. I can honestly say this was the worse steak we have EVER had. Golden Coral steaks have more flavor. The prices were comparable to Morton's, which is on the pricey side. This would have been fine had the food been better. The creamed spinach, mushrooms and steak were all very bland and the tendon hadn't even been trimmed from two of the tenderloins, making the steak very chewy. The au gratin potatoes were good, as was the bread. I was astounded at how absolutely terrible the food was. We won't be going back.

Over looking the river a beautiful setting if able to sit outside.the meal was good and perfect portion sizes. A little more expensive than a normal meal in the states but well worth it for a special occasion
