“Great building, good food”
Reviewed May 11, 2014 via mobile

The food here was great. Really enjoyed the thin crispy pizza with tomato, olives and basil, and the apple, Stilton and walnut that came with the lamb. They had good wine by the glass - particularly like the Charles de Fere sparkling wine - but the service was a bit too relaxed eg one glass of wine arrived just as finishing the main course when it had been ordered as main course arrived.

“So Classy”
Reviewed May 7, 2014

From the waitress to the food, this restaurant is always top notch..The old place was awesome and the new location near the King Wiliam district is even better. I love the homemade bread, the colorful greens in the salad and the menu that is so varied but not overwhelming. I had one of the specials, crabcakes. My spouse had a chicken sandwich. Both were excellent! I will return to this restaurant next time I'm in San Antonio.

“Very friendly staff”
Reviewed April 25, 2014

Stopped by for a couple of drinks one hot afternoon. The bartender was very friendly and enjoyed chatting about local beers. He put me on to Devil's Backbone which was amazing. I felt a little out of place as I was not dining but the food being served around me did look good. Another member of staff was wearing a full face Mexican wrestling mask for no apparent reason. There is a time and a place for grown men in masks, the time is 1982 and the place is a Scooby Doo cartoon! So in summary, great bartender but would only return if I was also eating.

Hello Duncan,

We appreciate your kind words about our establishment. The reason that our staff member was wearing a Lucha Libre mask was that he was part of our Fiesta celebration taking place later that day. Fiesta is sort of San Antonio's version of Mardi Gras. You can learn more about this local celebration at www.fiesta-sa.org. So aside from the year and cartoon your referenced, Fiesta is a great time to wear this mask.

Maybe we'll see you around next time your in San Antonio and if you are hungry.

“So glad we stopped here for a late lunch”
Reviewed April 14, 2014

We stopped here for a late lunch and we were all delighted with this lovely place! Beautiful old Convent building and great food too! Excellent menu filled with homemade goodies and fresh salads. Our server was Rachel and she took wonderful care of our luncheon needs. After lunch, we asked if we could explore the building and they were quite happy to allow us to wander around and even provided a "tour guide" - that was great and we all enjoyed our visit! Thanks for your Texas Hospitality and Great Food! I WILL be back...!!!!
