The first night I went to Biga, I was not feeling well. I did fine on an exquisite salad, some San Pellegrino, and a peach sorbet. My guest ate very lightly too. But our service was above impeccable, caring, not-gushy, and the food, excellent.

So I went back last night with two guests and an appetite. We all ordered different things to be able to try a broad selection, and they were accomodating: the three mains came out split on our plates, so no need to fuss.

Highlights of the night? Pork loin that had an incredible smoky something with it, a side of asparagus and mushrooms with cream (yes, I normally run from the cream, but here it was right), the Texan beet salad (which had pulled me through on my first visit) and the foie gras starter.

The wine list was varied with interesting choices on it, and not exorbitantly priced.

All told, a dinner that far surpassed expectations, just the way I like that. Cheap? No way, but who wants cheap anyway!

“What a great find in the Alamo City”
Reviewed September 6, 2013

We had a suggestion from a friend to dine at Biga on the Banks when we were in San Antonio last Friday. It did not disappoint. We sat at the bar since we didn't have a reservation and we were absolutely blown away by Casey. He not only told us about the history of the restaurant but made great recommendations for our meal. The food was excellent and the ambiance in the restaurant was so relaxing and friendly. The Grand Marnier souffle was the best we have ever tasted. Will definitely make Biga on the Banks our first stop when we come back to San Antonio.

“Finally tired Biga on the Banks”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

I have been fixin' to visit this restaurant since it opened.

Culinaria Week finally made it happen.

Excellent food. Spot on service.

I have been a Bruce Auden fan since he was on Locust Street. Was a frequent visitor to Auden's Kitchen on Sonterra until it closed.

“Beyond fine Dining”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

The amazing menu was an understatement when compared to the excellent food. We were treated as if we were friends of the owner and made to feel special. Wonderful quiet location on the river away from the bustle of revelers.

Would make this a must for dinner in San Antonio!

“Superb Experience”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

Received this as one of several recommendations from someone local and it surpassed our expectations. The food was wonderful, the service beyond compare and the ambience was excellent. As my cousin & I are use to good food & service, we are not easy sells, to wow both of us is no small feat - and we really were! If you're in San Antonio, this restaurant is a must!
